To make website thumbnails for a roundup, create a representative JPEG or PNG, upload it at least 808 × 632 pixels, then use Behance’s cover editor to choose the image and adjust its crop. The cover appears at 202 × 158 pixels, so check that the website or interface detail you want readers to recognize remains clear at that small size.
Decide what the thumbnail should show
A Behance cover is a preview of the work inside a project, not a separate website-thumbnail format. For a roundup, choose one image that helps a viewer understand the entry at a glance: it might feature the website’s visual identity, a distinctive interface detail, or the collection’s theme. These are design recommendations, not Behance requirements.
If the project contains several websites, avoid squeezing every full page into a tiny collage. A single legible focal point is usually easier to recognize in a compact preview. For multiple roundup entries, use a consistent visual system—such as similar margins, crop logic, or title treatment—without making the sites indistinguishable.
Prepare an image to Behance’s specifications

Use JPEG for photographic or screen imagery where a smaller file is useful; PNG is also accepted. Behance’s guide says GIF is for project content, not project covers. PDF uploads are not supported as images; convert a PDF page to an image file if you want to show it in a project.

Screens use RGB. Behance accepts CMYK files but converts them for display, which can change colors. If matching the website’s colors matters, convert the image to RGB before uploading. The published dimensions and limits are Behance guidance and may change; consult the Behance cover-image guide and its image-format guide for current details.
Capture or compose the website image
Use a website screenshot, a detail cropped from a larger capture, or a designed composition that includes the screenshot. Make sure you have permission to use the website imagery in your project. Whatever route you choose, judge the image at the cover’s compact displayed proportion rather than only at full resolution: confirm that text, logo, or interface detail central to the entry survives the crop.

If you are preparing a set, apply the same broad framing rules across entries while choosing a crop that suits each site. This is editorial design advice, not a Behance-prescribed style.
Set the Behance project cover
- Add the website imagery you plan to show to your Behance project, or prepare a separate image for the cover.
- In the project editor’s project-details area, choose Edit Cover Image.
- Select an image already in the project, or add another image for the cover.
- Adjust the crop so the most recognizable part of the website stays in frame, then continue.
- Preview the result at approximately 202 × 158 px. If the subject becomes hard to identify, revise the crop or simplify the image and try again.
- Before publishing, complete the required details: a cover image, a project title, and at least one creative field.

Keep a roundup discoverable and coherent
Use project titles and image tags that accurately describe the work. Behance’s best-practices guide recommends presenting a focused selection that makes a creator’s strengths or interests clear, and says project and image tags affect Behance’s internal search and search-engine performance. Tags are not a guarantee of ranking or traffic. Read the Behance best-practices guide.
Do not confuse a project cover with a video thumbnail
A video inside a project follows different behavior: Behance says an uploaded video uses its middle frame automatically, while a Vimeo embed allows a chosen poster image. That video behavior does not replace the project’s cover-image setup. Details are in Behance’s audio and video upload guide.
