To loop a wedding exhibition replay on YouTube Live, add the recording to an OBS Studio scene as a Media Source, enable Loop, and send OBS to a scheduled YouTube encoder stream. Check the incoming preview in YouTube Live Control Room before selecting Go live. The replay must be cleared for the music, performances, and other material it contains.
Before you set up the stream
Check that you can stream the whole recording
Make sure you have permission to broadcast the recording and every included element, including music, performances, and other third-party material. YouTube says live content providers must hold the necessary rights, including music licensing rights: Livestream terms and conditions. Its live-stream copyright guidance says streams are scanned for third-party content and may be interrupted or terminated: Copyright issues with live streams.
A license by itself may not prevent an interruption if the relevant rights owner has not allowlisted your channel. If you are organizing an event in India, determine the permissions that apply to the venue, recording, performers, and music with the relevant rights holders and local authorities. The platform guidance cited here does not specify which India-specific permits or music procedures apply to a particular event.
Prepare a replay file and a working setup
Have the replay file available on the computer running OBS, and make sure that computer can stay on and connected for the entire broadcast. OBS documents support for formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM. The exact video and audio encoding values needed for a particular event are not specified here; follow the current recommendations shown by YouTube and OBS for your setup rather than assuming a particular bitrate or resolution.

Set up the replay in OBS
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, choose an existing scene or create one for the exhibition replay.
- Add the recording. In the scene’s Sources area, select +, choose Media Source, and create a new source. Browse to the replay file and select it. OBS’s Media Sources documentation describes local-file sources and supported formats.
- Enable repeat playback. Open the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. OBS says Loop is off by default; when enabled, the file starts again after playback completes.
- Check the picture and sound. Inspect the OBS preview to confirm the video is visible and framed as intended. Play the source and watch the audio meters; confirm the replay’s sound reaches the stream mix. If the video has no sound in the preview or meters, check the source’s audio settings and OBS audio routing before proceeding.
- Keep the scene ready. Do not remove or replace the source while the event is live. A single Media Source is the straightforward choice for one replay file. OBS also documents a VLC Video Source for playlists; it requires VLC and has a separate Loop Playlist option enabled by default.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect OBS
- Schedule an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using an encoder. Add the event title, privacy, and other metadata. Scheduling creates a watch page that you can share in advance. See YouTube’s guide to creating a live stream with an encoder.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event. A stream key works like a password: keep it private and do not include it in a public post, screenshot, or message.
- Enter the details in OBS. Open OBS streaming settings, choose YouTube or the applicable custom server option, and enter the stream URL and key from the scheduled event. YouTube’s live stream settings guide explains managing stream settings.
- Send the feed and check the preview. Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the incoming video to appear in Live Control Room and verify both picture and sound there. YouTube recommends testing the setup and previewing before the broadcast; see its live streaming tips for computers.
- Start the public event deliberately. When the preview and event details are right, select Go live in Live Control Room. Starting the encoder feed and making the event live are separate actions in this workflow.
Keep the replay live, then end it cleanly
With Loop enabled, OBS restarts the file after it reaches the end. The stream can continue repeating while OBS remains connected and the computer and network stay available. Monitor the YouTube Live Control Room and the OBS preview during the event so you can spot a lost feed, silent audio, or an unexpected scene change.
When the event is over, end it in Live Control Room and stop sending the feed from OBS. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Archiving and live DVR are separate: DVR lets viewers rewind during a live broadcast, but it cannot take them to a point before the stream began. YouTube warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable for very long streams beyond 12 hours. Details: Turn on DVR on live streams and Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Troubleshooting common problems
- The replay stops instead of repeating: Open the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. It is off by default in OBS.
- The YouTube preview never appears: Confirm OBS is sending to the stream URL and key belonging to the scheduled event. Check that OBS is streaming, then allow time for the incoming preview to appear before selecting Go live.
- The preview has no sound: Play the Media Source and check the OBS audio meters and routing. Confirm the source’s audio is included in the stream mix, then verify sound in Live Control Room before going live.
- The stream is interrupted after music or performance content is detected: Review the rights for every included element. YouTube scans live streams for third-party material; even licensed material may require the rights owner to allowlist your channel.
- The audience cannot rewind far enough: DVR is not an archive, cannot rewind to before the live stream began, and may be limited or unavailable on very long streams. A completed archive is a separate viewing option; YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.
