To log out of Messenger on a specific device, open Meta Accounts Center, go to Password and security → Where you’re logged in, select the account and Messenger session for that device, then choose Log out. The menu labels can vary by app version, so check the device details before ending a session.
Log out of Messenger on a device you can access

Open Facebook or Messenger settings, then open Accounts Center. If prompted, choose the account whose sessions you want to manage.

Find the entry for Messenger on the device you want to sign out. Check the device information carefully so you do not end a different session.

Select that session and choose Log out. Meta says the Where You’re Logged In section shows devices recently used to log in and lets you log out of them. Meta Safety Center: Securing Your Account
Log out of Messenger on another device
Use the same Where you’re logged in controls from a device where you can access Facebook or Messenger settings. Select the account, locate the Messenger session associated with the other device, and log out that session. Meta describes the area as a list of recently used devices with a logout control; exact session labels may differ, so identify the device before acting. Meta Safety Center: Securing Your Account

Logging out, removing an account, and switching accounts are different
Ending a session logs out the selected device. Removing an account from Messenger’s account list is a separate account-management action and should not be treated as a guarantee that all sessions on other devices have ended. Messenger lists add, switch, and remove account options separately from deactivation. Messenger Help Center: Account
If you only want to sign out, do not choose account deactivation or deletion; those are different actions. Likewise, switching accounts changes which account you use in the app, rather than serving as a substitute for ending a specific device session. Messenger Help Center: Account

If you do not recognize a Messenger session
