Check your drone-controller combination and app version first, then enter the platform’s RTMP server URL and stream key in DJI Fly. The exact options depend on the controller, phone operating system, and app version.
Check whether your DJI setup supports livestreaming
DJI says livestreaming is supported in DJI Fly v1.4.12 and later, but app version alone does not guarantee compatibility. DJI RC does not support livestreaming through DJI Fly. The documented controller pairings and requirements include:
- DJI RC-N1, DJI RC-N2, or DJI RC-N3: DJI documents RTMP support with other aircraft, subject to the exact pairing and current guide.
- DJI RC 2: DJI documents RTMP and Douyin support after upgrading to DJI Fly v1.15.8. Before that version, DJI says only RTMP livestreaming was supported. The guide says DJI RC 2 is limited to 720p.
- DJI RC Pro: With DJI Fly v1.18.0, DJI says livestreaming is limited to 720p. DJI Fly v1.16.0 and later also requires a microphone plugged into DJI RC Pro to start a stream.
- DJI RC Pro 2: DJI lists 720p as its supported livestream resolution.
- DJI Smart Controller: DJI Fly v1.16.0 and later requires a plugged-in microphone to start a livestream.
For DJI RC 2, DJI RC Pro, and DJI Smart Controller, the microphone requirement applies to DJI Fly v1.16.0 and later. DJI’s guide does not identify compatible microphone models or connectors, so confirm compatibility with your exact controller before buying one. For any aircraft-controller pairing, check DJI’s current livestream operation guide before relying on these combinations; support can vary by model and app version.
Check the model’s current app requirements
DJI’s Mini 4 Pro support page lists DJI RC-N2 and DJI RC 2 as compatible controllers. Its downloads page listed DJI Fly v1.21.12 when checked and specified iOS 13.0 or later, with iPhone 11 or newer recommended. App versions and device requirements can change, so check the current Mini 4 Pro downloads page for that model rather than treating those details as permanent requirements.

Prepare the destination platform and connection
DJI Fly’s RTMP workflow requires more than an internet connection: the destination platform must accept RTMP input, and your account must have permission to livestream. If the platform does not provide a server URL and stream key, check its livestreaming settings or help center. A platform’s regular phone-app livestream feature does not necessarily mean it accepts an external RTMP stream.
- Update DJI Fly to a version supported by your aircraft and controller. Connect the phone or controller to the internet by Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Confirm that the account you plan to stream to has livestream permission. Without the necessary permission, the platform may not make stream credentials available.
- Confirm that the platform accepts RTMP, then obtain its RTMP server URL and stream key. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it on camera, share it, or include it in a public screenshot.
- Check your controller’s microphone requirement and arrange a compatible microphone if your controller and app version require one.
If the platform is not covered in DJI’s guide, DJI advises asking the platform whether it supports RTMP and how to obtain the server URL and key. Do not assume YouTube, Facebook, or another service accepts the stream just because it offers livestreaming through its own app; verify its current RTMP ingest options and account requirements first.

Start the RTMP stream in DJI Fly
- Power on the drone and controller and connect them to DJI Fly.
- If your controller has no integrated screen, connect your phone to the controller with a data cable. DJI says this step can be omitted for built-in-screen controllers such as DJI RC Pro and DJI Smart Controller.
- Open the flight view in DJI Fly and select Transmission > Live Streaming Platforms > RTMP.
- Enter the platform’s RTMP server URL and stream key. DJI says to put a slash between them unless the server URL already ends with one.
- Select one of the resolution and bitrate options offered by the app, then tap Start.
- Wait through the countdown. DJI describes a red icon on the camera view as the indication that the platform connection succeeded.
Before takeoff, make sure the aircraft is positioned safely and that you can monitor the stream without compromising flight control. The live view is only useful if the aircraft, controller, and internet connection remain available throughout the broadcast.
Choose resolution and bitrate
DJI lists 1080p and 720p livestream resolutions, but some controller combinations are limited to 720p. The bitrate choices DJI documents differ by mobile operating system and are constrained by the video-transmission frame rate; they are not freely adjustable.

| DJI Fly setting | Documented options or limitation |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 1080p or 720p, depending on the available options for the setup. |
| DJI RC 2 and DJI RC Pro 2 | 720p only, according to DJI’s guide. |
| DJI RC Pro with DJI Fly v1.18.0 | 720p only, according to DJI’s guide. |
| Bitrate on iOS | 2 Mbps or 1 Mbps. |
| Bitrate on Android | 5 Mbps or 3 Mbps. |
Use the options actually shown in DJI Fly for your setup. DJI says available bitrate choices depend on video-transmission frame rate, so an option listed for one phone or controller may not appear in another combination.
Plan the flight and broadcast together
- Use a stable internet connection and check the signal before starting; DJI does not guarantee a particular connection speed or stream quality.
- Monitor battery level and signal strength while streaming, and plan a flight path that accounts for obstacles.
- Follow the flight, privacy, and broadcasting rules that apply where you operate. Livestream capability does not replace local drone-flight requirements.
- Consider what the camera may capture in public or private spaces, and avoid broadcasting footage that violates another person’s privacy or the platform’s rules.
- Check the destination platform’s current policies for copyrighted music, video, and other material. Permission to fly or transmit a feed does not grant rights to broadcast material captured or played during the stream.
DJI’s operational guidance is general rather than jurisdiction-specific legal advice. Check your local aviation authority and the rules of the streaming platform for requirements that apply to your location and content.

Troubleshoot common DJI Fly livestream problems
The RTMP option is missing
Check the aircraft-controller pairing, controller model, and DJI Fly version. DJI RC does not support DJI Fly livestreaming. For other combinations, verify the exact pairing in DJI’s current guide and update the app if the model’s requirements call for it.
The platform does not provide a stream key
Check that the account has livestream permission and that the platform supports external RTMP input. If credentials are still unavailable, ask the platform how to enable RTMP streaming; its ordinary in-app livestream feature may not support an external source.

The stream will not start on a screen-equipped controller
If you use DJI RC 2, DJI RC Pro, or DJI Smart Controller with DJI Fly v1.16.0 or later, DJI requires a microphone plugged into the controller to start a livestream. The guide does not specify compatible microphones, so verify the connector and compatibility for your particular controller.
The stream does not connect after entering the credentials
Recheck the server URL and stream key against the platform’s current RTMP settings. Make sure there is a slash between them unless the server URL already ends in one. Confirm internet access and account livestream permission, then try again.
The stream looks softer than expected
Check the resolution offered in DJI Fly and whether your controller is limited to 720p. Bitrate options vary between iOS and Android and depend on video-transmission frame rate. DJI documents these settings but does not promise a particular result under every connection condition.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel that needs prerecorded video to play continuously, StreamNeo is a different option from DJI Fly’s live drone-camera feed: it loops uploaded videos on YouTube from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; there is no computer, OBS, or home connection to keep running. Every slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube and plays uploaded video; it does not broadcast a live drone camera feed. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
