You can connect Claude for Android to supported cloud services such as Gmail or Google Drive, and let it use remote MCP tools already configured through claude.ai. That is different from giving Claude general control of the apps installed on your phone: Anthropic’s documentation describes connected services and camera or microphone features, not broad Android app automation.
What Claude can access on Android
Claude’s Android app supports remote web connectors for eligible plans. A connector links Claude to a supported online service after you sign in and grant access. Depending on the service and permissions, Claude may be able to search or work with connected data.
Claude Mobile can also use remote MCP servers that you have already added through claude.ai. These servers expose tools, prompts, or resources to Claude; what they can do depends on the server and the permissions you grant.
Neither feature means Claude can automatically open and control any app installed on your Android phone. The documented integrations are service connections and configured remote tools. Camera and microphone access are separate phone permissions used for features such as image capture and voice input.

Connect a supported service, such as Gmail or Google Drive
Anthropic lists remote web connectors including Google Drive, Gmail, Asana, and Notion. Its guidance says remote web connectors work with Claude Mobile on Android for paid Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Plan eligibility and availability can change, so check the current connector options in Claude settings.

Install the official app by searching Google Play for Claude by Anthropic or opening Anthropic’s Claude Play Store listing.

Open Claude’s settings and find the connectors or integrations area. Choose the service you want to connect. Labels and availability may change as the app is updated.

Sign in to that service when prompted. Review the access request and grant only the permissions you are comfortable giving Claude.

Return to Claude and use the connector for a task involving the connected service. In Search and tools, enable only the connector tools needed for that task.
The connection is to the cloud service account, not to the service’s Android app on your phone. A connector may support actions as well as reading, depending on its capabilities and the access you approve.

Use a custom connector on mobile
Custom connectors use remote MCP servers. Anthropic says Claude Mobile can use remote servers that you have already added through claude.ai, but cannot add new servers directly from Claude Mobile. Set up the server on the web first, then use its available tools on Android.
Custom servers are not necessarily verified by Anthropic. Anthropic warns that a server may change its behavior or expose Claude to malicious instructions. Its Help Center advises: “Only add and authenticate custom connectors from trusted organizations, listed directly on their websites.” Connect only to a server you trust, and monitor its tool activity.

In Claude’s Search and tools controls, enable only the tools relevant to the task; turn off unrelated ones.

Prefer read-only capabilities for tasks that only require finding or summarizing information. Be especially careful with tools that can create, edit, send, or delete data, and approve an action only when you understand what it will do.
Disconnect a cloud service or custom connector
To stop a connector from being available to Claude, disconnect it in Claude settings. For a more complete revocation, also remove Claude’s authorization from the connected service’s own account or security settings. These are separate controls: disconnecting in Claude and revoking the service’s OAuth access are not the same step.

Manage camera and microphone separately
Camera and microphone access are Android app permissions, not cloud connector permissions. If Claude’s camera capture or voice input should not use those features, open Android’s app permission controls for Claude and adjust the relevant permission there. The cited guidance does not establish one settings path that applies to every Android version. Revoking microphone or camera permission does not disconnect Gmail, Drive, or another cloud service.

Install Claude from the official source
Anthropic lists Claude for Android among its ways to access Claude. Use the Google Play listing linked above, and check that the publisher is Anthropic when selecting the app.
