For a few known apps, install multiple WinGet package IDs in one command. To reuse an app list on another PC, export it to JSON and import it there. If you also want to configure Windows or a development environment, use WinGet Configuration. WinGet installs packages one at a time, not simultaneously.
Choose the right bulk-install method

Install a short list with one WinGet command
Open PowerShell or Windows Terminal and enter the package IDs after winget install. Microsoft’s example installs Visual Studio Code, PowerShell, and Git:
winget install Microsoft.VisualStudioCode Microsoft.PowerShell Git.GitUse package IDs rather than app names when possible: names can be ambiguous, while an ID helps target the intended package. Resolve a package match
If a search term matches more than one app, WinGet can show results so you can choose the intended package. Use an exact ID match to narrow selection; when duplicate entries exist across sources, specify the source as well. See Microsoft’s install command documentation for the current syntax and options.
Handle agreement prompts in automation
Package agreements may prompt for acceptance. In an unattended run, the documented --accept-package-agreements option can prevent that prompt, but review the agreements before accepting them. If the user declines an agreement, the app is not installed. [Microsoft Learn: WinGet install]

Reuse an app list with WinGet export and import
Export the package list from the source PC, transfer the JSON file to the destination PC, then import it. Run these commands in a terminal:

Move
packages.jsonto the destination PC. -
On the destination PC, install the listed packages:
winget import -i packages.json

Review the export before importing
Export attempts to match installed applications to packages in configured sources; it may not identify every program, and it reports warnings for unmatched apps. Matching relies on source manifest metadata and Windows Add/Remove Programs metadata, which reflects information supplied by the package installer. Open the JSON file and remove entries you do not want installed on the next PC. [Microsoft Learn: WinGet export]
Choose import options for your situation
Microsoft documents import options to ignore packages that are unavailable, ignore pinned versions in favor of the latest available, skip upgrades when the requested version is already installed, and accept package or source agreements. Check the current import documentation for the exact option names and behavior before using them in a script. Agreement acceptance avoids prompts; understand the applicable agreements first.

Use WinGet Configuration for a broader setup
Choose WinGet Configuration when your goal goes beyond installing a list of apps. A YAML configuration applied with winget configure can describe package installs alongside supported environment setup, such as Windows settings, Developer Mode, Visual Studio workloads, environment variables, dependencies, OS requirement checks, and PowerShell DSC resources. Microsoft’s February 4, 2026 explainer includes installing the Microsoft.WinGet.DSC module before applying its example configuration. Follow the prerequisites for the specific configuration you intend to use; this broader approach is unnecessary if you only want to install several everyday apps. Use Chocolatey if it fits your existing setup
Chocolatey is another option, particularly if you already manage packages with its tools. Its official install documentation supports an XML packages.config manifest and multi-package installation. Pay attention to shared command options: an option such as a version selection supplied to a multi-package command applies to every package in that command. [Chocolatey: install command]
