You’ll need a Ubisoft account to use the service. The steps below cover the PC launcher—not Ubisoft apps for consoles or mobile devices.
Install Ubisoft Connect PC

Open Ubisoft’s official Ubisoft Connect download page and download the latest Ubisoft Connect PC installer. Use Ubisoft’s own download rather than an installer from a third-party site; the official page provides the current version.

Find the downloaded installer on your PC, then run it with administrator rights. If Windows asks for permission, approve the prompt to continue.

Follow the installer’s on-screen instructions until setup completes.

Restart your computer after installation. Ubisoft recommends restarting to complete setup.

Open Ubisoft Connect and sign in with the Ubisoft account associated with your games. Installing the launcher does not itself transfer game ownership.

What Ubisoft Connect is for
Ubisoft describes Ubisoft Connect PC as a desktop app for managing and playing Ubisoft games, accessing Ubisoft+ content, redeeming rewards, and more. Ubisoft calls Connect a free service that requires a Ubisoft account. Ubisoft+ is optional; it is not required to install the launcher.
Reinstall Ubisoft Connect if the app is broken
If the launcher itself is not working correctly, Ubisoft’s documented reinstall process includes removing the app and its cache. Back up your save files first, and read the uninstall choices carefully: you can choose whether to keep or remove installed games and local save files.

Close Ubisoft Connect.

Back up your save files.

Uninstall Ubisoft Connect PC. Choose whether to keep or remove installed games and local save files when prompted.

Delete the cache folder. Ubisoft lists the default location as
C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launcher. If you installed Connect to a custom location, check that location instead.Rank #4

Reinstall by following the installation steps above.
Fix an “Unable to start download” error
If Ubisoft Connect opens but a game download will not start, Ubisoft recommends checking these possible causes before reinstalling the launcher:

Check your internet connection and Ubisoft service status.

Confirm that your PC has enough available storage for the game.

Run Ubisoft Connect with administrator rights.

Update the desktop app.
If those checks do not resolve the problem, Ubisoft recommends reinstalling Connect and trying the game download again. If the error continues, contact Ubisoft Support and attach DxDiag and MSInfo reports. These checks address this particular download error; they are not a universal diagnostic sequence for every launcher issue.
If Ubisoft Connect is offline or the overlay is not working
Ubisoft says Connect may run in Offline mode when there is no internet connection; automatic updates will not install in that mode. For overlay problems, Ubisoft recommends updating Connect, disabling background applications while launching it, and checking that security software is not blocking the app. If the issue persists, follow Ubisoft’s connectivity troubleshooting guidance.
