On Windows 11, Roblox supports both the Microsoft Store app and the desktop client installed through its website. Roblox’s current support page identifies the Store app you should use as Roblox – Windows; the older listing is named simply Roblox. Roblox does not publish a general performance comparison showing that one installation route is better for every PC. If a specific error occurs, its troubleshooting guidance may point you to the other official version.
Which Roblox version should you install on Windows 11?
Choose the Microsoft Store route if you want the Store-distributed app and can confirm the listing is Roblox – Windows. Choose the website desktop route if you are following Roblox’s browser-based installation instructions or support recommends switching versions to troubleshoot a particular problem.
Roblox describes its updated Store app as built for a smoother, more reliable experience with improved stability. That is Roblox’s product description, not an independent comparison or a guarantee for every computer. The available support material does not provide a general performance test of the Store and website versions.

Check the Windows 11 requirements
Roblox supports installation on 64-bit Windows 11 (and 64-bit Windows 10). Roblox lists DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support and recommends at least 300 MB of system storage for installation. These are the requirements and recommendation stated by Roblox Support, not an independent verification.
How to install or update Roblox on Windows 11
Install through the Microsoft Store
- Open Microsoft Store and search for Roblox – Windows. Check the listing name so you do not select the older app named only Roblox.
- Choose the current listing’s install or update option shown in the Store.
- Open the app and sign in with your usual Roblox username and password.
Install the desktop version from Roblox’s website
- Open Roblox’s website in Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.
- Sign in and start a Roblox experience using the website’s play flow.
- Follow the prompts to install or launch the desktop client. If you are reinstalling, use Roblox’s reinstall guidance rather than deleting app files as a first step.
For updates, use the same official route you installed from and follow the Store or website prompts presented for that version. The support guidance covered here does not establish a single universal update screen or manual update procedure for every Windows 11 setup.

Quick fixes for Roblox installation and update problems
Start with low-impact checks, then match the fix to the symptom. Roblox’s desktop guidance recommends restarting the computer and closing other programs during installation or updating. An install loop, a library-loading error, a website-launched client error 403, and a browser website problem do not all call for the same cleanup.
Roblox keeps asking you to install it
- Restart the computer, then try the installation or launch again.
- Close other programs while Roblox installs or updates.
- If the installation appears corrupted or fails, try reinstalling. Roblox says reinstalling can replace deleted or broken files, and that most users do not need to uninstall first.
- If you do need to uninstall before reinstalling, restart Windows between uninstalling and reinstalling, as Roblox’s instructions advise.
“Failed to Load Library”
For this particular error, Roblox explicitly recommends trying the other official app route: uninstall the Microsoft Store version and install the website desktop version, or uninstall the website version and install the Store version. If switching does not resolve it, Roblox also suggests clearing the Roblox folder under %localappdata%, checking for Windows updates, and updating graphics drivers.

Clearing the Roblox folder removes local app files, so treat it as a later troubleshooting step rather than a routine first action. Follow Roblox’s error-specific instructions before deleting local data.
Error 403 when launching the client from a website
For a website-launched client error 403 on Windows 11, Roblox recommends reinstalling and clearing Roblox app data. Its guidance also suggests trying another internet connection if the problem appears network-related. These steps apply to the described 403 issue; they are not a universal fix for every Roblox error.

Roblox website trouble in your browser
If the problem is with the website rather than the installed client, Roblox’s troubleshooting guidance lists clearing temporary internet files and cookies, updating the browser, and disabling browser extensions or VPNs. These browser-side checks are distinct from clearing the Roblox app folder.
