To install your first Adobe Creative Cloud app, sign in to Adobe Home, open Apps, find the app, and select Download. Creative Cloud desktop installs automatically and manages the setup. If you already have the desktop app, install additional apps from its Apps tab by selecting Install.
Before you install: check access and compatibility
Adobe’s installation flow assumes you have access through a purchase or trial. If you use a school or company account and an app is unavailable, ask your organization’s administrator to assign access. Adobe’s installation guide describes these access and download steps.
Check requirements for both the Creative Cloud desktop app and the app you want. The desktop app’s requirements are not a guarantee that a particular Photoshop, Illustrator, video, or other app will run. Adobe’s desktop-app requirements, last updated September 2, 2025, list these minimums:

The Creative Cloud desktop app does not install on a volume formatted with a case-sensitive file system. Individual apps can require newer operating systems or different hardware. Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps requirements page, last updated April 6, 2026, says desktop apps generally support the latest and two previous major operating-system versions. For most 2026 apps, Adobe lists Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 23H2, Windows 10 versions 22H2 and 21H2, and macOS 26 Tahoe, 15 Sequoia, and 14 Sonoma as examples. Video apps have separate OS-support details, so check the exact app before upgrading or troubleshooting.

Install your first Creative Cloud app
- Sign in to Adobe Home using the Adobe account that has access to the app.
- Open Apps and find the app you want.
- Select Download, then follow the on-screen prompts. The Creative Cloud desktop app installs and manages the app setup; the app opens when installation finishes.

Install another app from Creative Cloud desktop
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.
- Go to Apps, locate the app, and select Install.
- Follow the prompts. Adobe says the app opens automatically when installation completes.
If the button says Open instead of Download or Install, the product may be a web app that runs in your browser rather than software that installs locally.

Install or reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app directly
If the desktop manager is missing or needs reinstalling, download its installer from Adobe’s Creative Cloud desktop app download page. Adobe says it installs in its default location; the installer does not offer a different drive or folder choice.
- Windows: Open the downloaded
Creative_Cloud_Set-Up.exefile and follow the prompts. - macOS: Open
Creative_Cloud_Installer.dmgand follow the prompts.
Troubleshoot a failed or stalled installation
The download will not start or installation is stuck
Confirm that the computer has an active internet connection, then retry. Poor Wi-Fi, antivirus software, software firewalls, corporate firewalls, and proxy servers can interrupt downloads. If Creative Cloud asks for internet access, allow it. Adobe recommends trying a wired connection when Wi-Fi is unreliable; see its internet-connection troubleshooting guide and stuck-installation steps.

On a managed school or work network, ask IT to check the proxy and firewall configuration instead of changing settings yourself. Adobe lists ccmdl.adobe.com:80, swupmf.adobe.com:80, and swupdl.adobe.com:80 for corporate firewall configuration. Temporarily changing antivirus or firewall settings should be done only with care for the device’s security controls.
The app does not appear in the Apps list
Adobe may hide apps it determines the computer cannot install. An unsupported operating system is one possible cause. Check the app’s current requirements and make sure the Creative Cloud desktop app is not running in Windows compatibility mode, another cause Adobe identifies in its missing-apps guidance.

The Creative Cloud desktop installer fails
For certain installation or update errors, Adobe recommends uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop app. Administrator privileges are required to uninstall it. If ordinary repair steps do not resolve an issue caused by corrupt files or installation records, Adobe provides the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool for advanced users; follow its troubleshooting guidance before using it.
