To improve your lap times in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, learn each course’s routes and hazards, then practise the cornering and boost timing that fit your vehicle. Make one change at a time and compare runs on the same course. The available developer and hands-on sources describe handling and upgrade options, but do not establish a universally fastest setup or a guaranteed time saving.
How do I improve my lap times in Star Wars: Galactic Racer?
Start by learning the course rather than trying to hold maximum speed everywhere. The game features branching routes and varied environments, so a shortcut or fast-looking line may put you near debris, walls, or another hazard. Repeat the same course and note where routes split, where turns begin, and which exits give you room to accelerate. StarWars.com’s game feature description identifies branching routes and varied environments as part of the racing experience.
Then focus on the vehicle you chose. The classes have different handling identities: a drift-oriented landspeeder, a speeder bike that rewards braking and controlled acceleration, and a skim speeder built around flowing lines. A podracer is described as fast but unstable and vulnerable to impacts, so its top speed alone does not show whether it will produce a quicker full lap. TheSixthAxis’s hands-on report discusses hazards, vehicle handling, and Field Tests.
Use a repeatable practice loop
Keep the course and vehicle constant while you work out where time is being lost. This is practical advice for making your comparisons easier, not a developer-validated testing method.

- Premium Control: The Driving Force feedback racing wheel provides a detailed simulation of driving a real car, with helical gearing delivering smooth, quiet steering and a hand-stitched leather cover
- Customizable Pedals: These pressure-sensitive nonlinear brake pedals provide a responsive, accurate braking feel on a sturdy base - with adjustable pedal faces for finer control
- 900-Degree Rotation: Lock-to-lock rotation of the Driving Force means you can turn the wheel around two and a half times, hand over hand on wide turns - just like a real F1 race car
- Up Your Game: Take your racing simulation to the next level with Driving Force accessories like the Driving Force Shifter or desk and rig mounts
- Pick one course and one vehicle. Changing fewer variables makes it easier to notice whether a different line, boost point, or upgrade helped.
- Use an early run to map the course. Prioritize staying on the track. Identify route splits, corners, debris, walls, and environmental hazards rather than chasing a personal best immediately.
- Choose one cornering focus for the next run. Use the technique suited to the vehicle, then notice whether you lose momentum on entry, through the middle, or on the exit.
- Test boost at a controlled point. Try it where there is space to handle the craft and use the acceleration, rather than approaching a hazard too quickly or triggering an overheat.
- Change one relevant upgrade at a time. Compare the next run with the previous one before making another change. The sources describe upgrade categories, not validated optimal settings.
Field Tests are a useful place to practise adapting to an unfamiliar vehicle: the PlayStation hands-on report describes them as challenges that require meeting a target time with a new vehicle. Arcade mode is also described as an option for quick races. The available sources do not establish a dedicated time-trial mode.
Adapt your cornering to the vehicle
| Vehicle | What to practise | Trade-off to manage |
|---|---|---|
| Landspeeder | Practise initiating a controlled drift and carrying momentum through a corner. | Its identity is drift-focused; hands-on reporting describes it as weighty. A drift is not automatically the right line for every turn. |
| Speeder bike | Brake into turns, then use the class’s Kinetic Burst and accelerate out when the exit is clear. | It is quick on straights, but demands deliberate corner control. The developer describes its cornering rhythm as braking and regaining grip. |
| Skim speeder | Practise flowing lines, banking, maintaining momentum, and knife-edge turns through narrow gaps. | Its handling is described as more aircraft-like, with a distinct skill curve; that does not establish it as the fastest class. |
| Podracer | Prioritize clean lines and leave room to avoid obstacles. | Hands-on reporting describes it as very fast but unstable and fragile; impacts can destroy it. |
Fuse Games co-founder and CEO Matt Webster described skim speeders as vehicles that “reward flowing lines and maintaining momentum, banking through corners and knife-edging through narrow gaps” in the StarWars.com reveal interview. Treat that as guidance about the vehicle’s intended feel, not a promise that one technique will work identically on every track.

Use boosts where you can control the craft
Afterburner provides a short boost that recharges. Ramjet offers a stronger burst but carries an overheating risk, according to Xbox Wire’s hands-on report. Neither is a reason to accelerate blindly: use a burst where the track leaves room to keep control and benefit from the speed. If a boost makes you arrive at a corner unable to hold a safe line, test a later activation point or a less aggressive approach.
Choose upgrades for the course and your current weakness
Available upgrade categories include cornering, Afterburner, battery, Ramjet, resilience, and a vehicle’s unique trait. Use them to address a specific problem you have noticed: for example, difficulty carrying speed through a turn or managing a boost. The sources do not establish a universally best build, exact optimal settings, or an upgrade that is fastest on every course. Change one relevant component at a time so you can tell what changed in your next run.

Manage risk, not just speed
A crash can erase the advantage of a faster line. The hands-on reports describe dangerous walls and debris, crash limits in many events, and campaign consequences where wrecking out can end a tour. That makes a clean, repeatable route a sensible priority while learning a course, especially in a fragile vehicle. Once you know where hazards are, test a more ambitious line without assuming that its shorter distance will make it quicker overall.

Fuse Games design director Mark Bridges said in a September 1, 2026 interview that the team designed tracks that can be driven at “300 kilometres an hour, and 1000 kilometres an hour” and sought to make them play well at both speeds. That statement concerns track design, not a measured lap-time result or recommended target speed. The available official and hands-on sources give qualitative advice about vehicles, routes, and upgrades; they do not publish controlled time savings, a fastest setup, or exact braking points for every track.

Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster has also described replayability, learning the tracks, and improving with a vehicle as central to the racing loop in TheSixthAxis’s interview. Use repeated runs to build familiarity, but judge a setup by how it works on your course and with your chosen vehicle rather than by an unsupported universal ranking.
StarWars.com lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and gives October 6, 2026 as the worldwide launch date.
