You can troubleshoot low frame rates, stutter, and delayed controls in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, but there is no verified title-specific “best settings” recipe or published performance target to promise. The game launched October 6, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Start by identifying whether the problem is low FPS, inconsistent frames, control-to-display delay, or online lag; they have different causes and fixes.

Why is Star Wars: Galactic Racer stuttering or responding slowly?

First separate four symptoms that can feel similar while racing:

  • Consistently low FPS: the system is producing frames slowly. On PC, check the published requirements and test visual settings.
  • Brief stutter: frame delivery is uneven, even if average FPS seems adequate. Compare 1% lows as well as average FPS.
  • Input lag: a delay between pressing a control and seeing the result. It can involve the input device, game and operating system, rendering, and display.
  • Online lag: opponents teleporting or multiplayer events arriving late may indicate connection instability rather than a local frame-rate or control-response problem. Steam lists Online PvP and cross-platform multiplayer, but no title-specific network troubleshooting guidance is established.

FPS describes rendering throughput, not the complete time from input to visible response. A higher average FPS alone does not prove lower end-to-end latency.

How to get more FPS on PC

1. Check the PC against the published requirements

Valve’s Steam listing gives these requirements for the PC version:

2. Create a repeatable baseline

  1. Choose a race or scene you can reproduce and keep the resolution and other conditions the same between tests.
  2. Record the resolution and settings in use, then note average FPS and 1% lows if an appropriate overlay provides them.
  3. Use the same scene after each change. Alter one visual option at a time, and only lower options that actually appear in your build’s menus.
  4. Keep the change if it improves the result without an unacceptable loss of image clarity or control response; otherwise revert it before testing something else.

NVIDIA defines 1% low FPS as the average frame rate of the slowest one percent of frames; comparing it with average FPS helps describe consistency and stutter. Its PC-latency measurement is a separate metric, available only for compatible titles. NVIDIA FrameView documentation

3. Reduce competing workload

Close unusually heavy background work before retesting, especially applications consuming substantial CPU, GPU, or memory. This is a general PC troubleshooting step, not a confirmed Galactic Racer-specific fix. Avoid changing several system and game settings at once, since that makes it harder to identify what helped.

No verified source establishes this game’s graphics presets, exact option names, frame-rate targets, or support for ray tracing, DLSS, FSR, frame generation, Reflex, or a specific display mode. Do not assume those features exist in your build. If an option is present, test it individually and compare the same scene at the same resolution.

How to reduce input lag on PC

Input-to-display response passes through multiple stages: the controller or other input device, the game and operating system, rendering, and the display. A PC latency figure does not necessarily include every part of that chain. NVIDIA’s general guidance treats Reflex as an option to enable when a game supports it; no inspected source confirms that Galactic Racer does. NVIDIA’s system-latency guide

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
  • Check in-game settings: look for an explicitly labeled low-latency control, if one appears. Do not infer support from another game or GPU feature list.
  • Test display mode and V-Sync conditionally: NVIDIA recommends fullscreen where possible, but the available choices and their effects depend on the game and display. V-Sync can reduce tearing while adding latency; switching it off can reduce that tradeoff but may introduce tearing. Variable-refresh-rate support can change the balance. Compare your own response and image quality rather than assuming one setting is best for everyone.
  • Use a suitable measurement cautiously: NVIDIA FrameView’s PC-latency metric measures average time from PC input receipt to a frame being sent to the display, in milliseconds. It requires title compatibility and excludes mouse and monitor display latency, so it is not a complete end-to-end figure for every setup. NVIDIA FrameView documentation

What to try on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

The game is available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but available sources do not establish a title-specific performance mode, console frame-rate target, or console latency measurement. StarWars.com’s launch announcement confirms the date and platforms; TechRadar’s October 2026 launch review reports visual settings and control customization in its reviewed PS5 experience, not a measured latency benefit. TechRadar review

  • Use your display’s Game Mode if available, and check that the console’s output configuration matches the display you are using.
  • If you change a display or game option, compare the same race or scene and judge control response as well as image quality.
  • Do not assume a console performance toggle exists unless it appears in the current build’s menus.

Do remapping or a different controller improve performance?

TechRadar’s October 2026 review reports controller remapping and toggleable controls. These are useful customization options for comfort and accessibility, but the review does not establish that they reduce measured input latency. Epic lists controller support and a gamepad as an additional input device for PC. A wired USB game controller for PC is an option if you prefer that control style; buying a different controller is not an established performance fix.

When the problem may be network lag

If local steering feels responsive but opponents jump around, multiplayer actions arrive late, or the problem occurs only online, investigate connection stability separately from FPS and local input-to-display response. A frame-rate overlay cannot diagnose network delay. Steam identifies Online PvP and cross-platform multiplayer for the game, but the available official listings do not provide title-specific network troubleshooting instructions. Steam listing
