To make your Galaxy S26 Ultra last longer between charges, first check which apps are using the most power, then adjust screen use and background activity. Use Power saving or turn off radios only when their limits suit your needs. For longer-term battery care, Samsung recommends keeping the phone around 20%–80% charge; that guidance is not a guarantee of a particular battery lifespan.
How to find what is draining your Galaxy S26 Ultra
- Open Settings > Battery and review battery consumption.
- Look for apps using substantial power, especially when they are active in the background.
- For apps you do not need running continuously, consider a background-use limit or a sleeping-app setting. Samsung says sleeping apps use less power because they are prevented from operating in the background. Check that essential messaging, health, navigation, and security apps still behave as expected before restricting them.
Menu labels and steps can vary by device and software version. If the path differs, search Settings for Battery or Background usage limits. Samsung’s guidance, updated November 27, 2025, describes the steps as subject to change between devices: Samsung’s Galaxy battery guidance.
Which screen settings can extend a charge?
The display can use more battery when it is bright or stays on for a long time. Try these adjustments and keep the ones that remain comfortable to use:
- Lower screen brightness, or use automatic brightness if it suits your environment.
- Shorten the screen timeout so the display turns off sooner when idle.
- Turn off Always On Display if you do not rely on it.
- Consider a lower screen resolution or Dark Mode if you prefer the appearance and are comfortable with the trade-off.
Samsung also lists wallpaper as a possible display-related adjustment. The effect of any individual setting depends on how you use the phone; no model-specific battery-hour or percentage gain is established here.

When should you use Power saving?
Power saving is useful when you need extra runtime more than you need every background task and feature to respond immediately. Samsung says it can be enabled from the Quick panel and its settings can be adjusted. The exact labels may differ, so search Settings for Power saving if needed.
Android’s Battery Saver can limit background activity, connections, and features; some apps may update or notify you later, and visual effects can change. Review the available options before enabling it if you depend on timely messages, connected devices, or background services. Google’s guidance is general Android advice, and some steps apply only to Android 13 and later: Google: Get the most life from your Android device’s battery.

Should you turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or location?
Turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or location services when you are not using them and do not need them available. Airplane mode is an option when you do not need connectivity at all. Avoid disabling a connection you rely on for calls, navigation, accessories, or other essential services.

If one of these activities is driving a fast drain, reducing its duration or taking a break is often more practical than disabling unrelated phone features.

How to use Battery Protection for longer-term care
Battery Protection is about battery care over time, rather than extending the current charge. Samsung recommends: “Aim to keep your smartphone between 20-80% charged (you don’t need to wait for the battery to run out of charge completely before charging your phone).” This is manufacturer guidance, not a promise of a specific lifespan.
Samsung describes Basic, Maximum, and Adaptive protection options, but availability and steps vary by device. Search Settings for Battery protection and review the option descriptions on your phone before choosing one. Samsung also cautions that keeping a phone at 100% charge for a long period can reduce battery lifespan.

Does the Light performance profile help?
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra support page mentions a Light performance profile intended to reduce heat and improve battery efficiency. The support material does not establish a specific menu path, trade-offs, or a measured battery gain for the S26 Ultra. If the option appears in Settings > Device care, review its description and decide whether its performance behavior suits your needs. If it is not available, do not assume your phone is missing a required battery setting.

Why battery life still varies
Settings cannot eliminate the power used by demanding tasks. Long navigation sessions, video, graphics-heavy games, tethering, GPS use, and streaming are common drains. Battery life also varies with apps, signal conditions, and software version, so a setting that helps one person may make little difference for another. Make one change at a time and check Settings > Battery again to see whether it addresses your own drain.
