To raise money for breast cancer research with a livestreamed dance class, choose a research-focused beneficiary, direct donations through its official fundraising route, and make the class easy to join online. You can host a one-time live class, fold it into a longer fitness challenge, or let people attend online as part of a hybrid event. Be clear about where the money goes and avoid promising that a particular gift will fund a specific scientific result.
Choose the beneficiary before choosing the platform
Start by deciding which organization you want to support, then use its official fundraising or donation page so participants can see where their gifts are directed. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) invites streamers to raise funds through its Stream for BCRF page, which includes links and materials for getting started.
Be precise about the kind of work the beneficiary supports. BCRF describes its campaign as supporting breast cancer research. Other examples serve different purposes: Thriving Pink’s Dance for a Cause supports the nonprofit’s programs for people navigating breast cancer, while Breastcancer.org’s Pink Out with Remix Fitness is a virtual fitness event benefiting that organization.
Pick a format that fits the class

These examples show different ways to combine fitness and fundraising; they do not establish which format raises more money. Choose based on your audience, instructor, schedule, and ability to manage the event.

Set up a reliable donation path
Use the charity’s official campaign page or a fundraising platform it identifies, and test the donation route before sharing it. BCRF points streamers to Tiltify for fundraising goals and incentives, and to Streamlabs Charity for fundraising tools and custom BCRF overlays. The Irish Cancer Society’s virtual fundraising guidance suggests Facebook for collecting donations for virtual classes and names Tiltify and Twitch in its charity livestream guidance.
These are examples named by the charities, not endorsements of present-day pricing or suitability. Before committing, check that a service and the features you plan to use are available in your location, and review its current terms. Make the donation link easy to find in event announcements and on the livestream itself. If participants can give without attending, say so explicitly.

Make the invitation clear and accessible
Give participants the practical information they need before they register or tune in. Include:
- The date, start time, and time zone.
- The registration or livestream link, plus any instructions for joining.
- The class length and whether it is intended for beginners.
- How to request or follow movement modifications.
- The beneficiary and the official donation destination.
- Whether donations are optional and whether people can donate without taking the class.
These details are useful planning choices, not a universal checklist prescribed by the charities. The examples establish that virtual classes, challenges, hybrid attendance, and direct donations are used; each organizer still needs to communicate how their own event works.

Describe the fundraising impact accurately
BCRF’s Stream for BCRF page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists these donor-facing equivalencies:
- $50 funds one hour of research.
- $100 funds five liquid biopsy collection kits for a clinical trial.
- $500 funds one patient’s DNA sequencing in a BCRF-supported lab.
- $2,500 funds one patient’s enrollment in a BCRF-supported clinical trial.
These are BCRF’s stated equivalencies, not independently verified costs or guarantees that an individual gift will be allocated to that specific item. If you use them in event materials, attribute them to BCRF and check the current campaign page because figures can change.

The same page reported that BCRF supported more than 280 grantees worldwide with $74.75 million in scientific grants “this year” when accessed October 7, 2026. Treat that as a time-specific figure, not a permanent annual total. More generally, tell donors that their gifts support the beneficiary’s work; do not claim that a particular participant’s donation caused a specific scientific result.

After the event, thank the instructor and donors, share the final amount only after it has been confirmed, and link back to the beneficiary. If you mention an impact equivalency or a current-year grant figure in a follow-up, keep its attribution and time context with it.
