Make the next video easy to find and clearly related to the stream. Feature it or a well-named playlist on your channel homepage, point viewers to one specific follow-up, and connect stream highlights to the full archive with end screens. For a planned stream ending, eligible creators can use YouTube Live Redirect to send viewers to a Premiere. These routes make related videos easier to discover; none guarantees that viewers will continue watching.

Make the next viewing choice obvious

A 24/7 stream can introduce viewers to your channel, but it does not automatically guide them to your other uploads. Choose one or a small number of genuinely related videos as the next step. A specific recommendation—such as a song, tutorial, or complete performance that follows naturally from the stream—gives viewers a clearer destination than “watch more.” This is a practical application of YouTube’s guidance to organize content and direct viewers to relevant material, not a guaranteed conversion tactic.

Organize the channel homepage

Put the recommended video or a clearly named playlist where a new visitor can find it without searching through an undifferentiated archive. Google’s Live Streaming Guide recommends creating a live archive playlist and using it as a section on the channel homepage. If your continuous stream creates a large archive, keep that archive in its own section so it does not obscure other useful videos. You can also add relevant playlists and a Live Archives shelf to help visitors choose between the stream archive and other uploads.

Give viewers a relevant prompt

When appropriate, tell viewers in the stream which specific video or playlist to watch next, and make that destination easy to find in the surrounding channel experience. Avoid assuming a clickable overlay is available in every live playback context. The goal is a clear recommendation paired with an accessible destination, not a prompt viewers cannot act on.

Turn useful stream moments into routes to other videos

Make highlight clips from useful portions of the stream, then connect those clips to a related upload or the full stream archive with available end-screen elements. Google’s Live Streaming Guide specifically recommends directing audiences to the archived live stream via end screens on related highlight clips. You can adapt the direction to your channel’s actual viewing path: a highlight can lead to the full archive, while a closely related upload can lead viewers deeper into a topic or series.

Use relevant end screens and cards where they fit, and organize related uploads into playlists. Check the options available for each video in YouTube Studio rather than assuming every element works in every format or playback situation.

Use Live Redirect when a planned stream ends

Live Redirect is an end-of-stream handoff, not a way to route viewers elsewhere during an ongoing 24/7 broadcast. YouTube says it can send viewers after a stream ends to a selected Premiere or another channel’s live stream. The destination channel must permit redirects. The creator sending viewers must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. Check YouTube’s current Live Redirect instructions and eligibility before planning the handoff, since platform interfaces can change.

  1. Plan an appropriate Premiere and make it available before the live stream ends.
  2. In YouTube Studio, configure Live Redirect for the stream and select the Premiere destination, following the current on-screen instructions.
  3. Tell viewers that the stream will end and that they may need to wait briefly for screens to reload before the Premiere appears.
  4. If redirecting to another channel’s live stream, confirm that channel permits redirects.

YouTube also advises pinning a live chat message on the Premiere watch page to direct viewers to the live stream. That is guidance for a Premiere watch page; it does not establish that pinned messages solve every continuous-stream discovery situation.

Measure whether viewers follow the route

Use YouTube Studio Analytics to see whether people move from the stream experience to related videos, rather than judging by impressions or a general rise in views alone. YouTube frames video performance as a funnel: appeal (including click-through rate), engagement (views), and satisfaction (average view duration). Its Analytics guidance also describes traffic sources and audience retention.

  • Check traffic sources for referrals from channel pages and playlists.
  • Review end-screen traffic for videos that use end screens.
  • Look at click-through rate, average view duration, and retention on the destination video.
  • Compare like formats: videos with videos and live streams with live streams, since viewer behavior can differ by format.

If you test two routes, compare how closely each destination matches the stream, how visible and easy to use the route is, whether it works during the broadcast, in the archive, or only at stream end, and the resulting video views, retention, and playlist or end-screen traffic. Keep the formats and time periods comparable. YouTube publishes no conversion-rate benchmark for moving viewers from a 24/7 stream to other channel videos, so treat your own Analytics results as evidence about your channel—not as a guaranteed outcome for others.

Keep the stream running without leaving a computer on

If the 24/7 stream itself needs to stay live while you focus on organizing its follow-up videos, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos to YouTube. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; it keeps streaming from the cloud without a computer, OBS, or home connection running. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Learn more at StreamNeo.
