If the store does not offer a useful alert, use a price tracker for that retailer—for example, Camelcamelcamel for Amazon items—or Chrome’s built-in price tracking where it is available. Set a target price when you know what you’re willing to pay, then check the item’s price history and checkout total before buying.
An alert for a specific item is different from a broad deal recommendation: the first watches a product you chose; the second surfaces offers that match a need or category.
Start with the retailer’s own alert
Open the product page or the store’s app and look for controls such as “notify me,” “watch,” or “save to wishlist.” Some retailers also let you opt into deal emails or app notifications. Names and availability vary by store, so check its current help page if the control is not obvious.
- Open the exact product listing, including the size, color, model, or other variant you want.
- Choose the available watch, wishlist, or deal-alert control.
- Enable the relevant app, email, or browser notifications in your account and device settings.
- Check that you are watching the intended seller and product condition where the store distinguishes them.
Retailer alerts are the simplest option when offered, but they may not let you set a precise price threshold. For a known item and a specific budget, use a target-price watch instead.

Set an Amazon target-price alert
Amazon says shoppers can ask Alexa for Shopping for an alert on a product detail page when the price reaches a chosen amount. Its example phrase is “Alert me when this drops to $50.” Amazon says it will notify the customer when the item reaches the target. Amazon’s explanation of shopping features describes the option.
Amazon also describes broader deal alerts: tell it what kind of product you need, and it can send daily updates when matching deals become available. That is useful for discovery, while a target-price alert is for a particular item.

Use Chrome price tracking where supported
Chrome’s product price tracking can be started from a product page or through Chrome’s “Track prices” command. To find tracked items, Google documents the path Bookmarks > Tracked products. Mobile and email alert settings are under Settings > Google services. See Google’s Chrome price-tracking instructions for the current controls.
Google lists the feature in Australia, Canada, India, Japan, and the United States. Its documented tracking and insights features require Chrome sign-in, tab/history sync, and the “Make searches and browsing better” setting. Availability and settings can change, so check Google’s help page for your location and Chrome version before relying on an alert.

Track Amazon prices with Camelcamelcamel or Keepa
Camelcamelcamel: set a price threshold
- Copy the Amazon product URL.
- Paste it into Camelcamelcamel and choose which price type to watch.
- Set the target price and start tracking; the service says it will email when the price drops.
Its feature page distinguishes Amazon, third-party new, and third-party used prices, so select the condition and seller category you actually intend to buy. Camelcamelcamel lists Amazon marketplaces in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. See its tracking instructions and feature details.
Keepa: price and availability alerts
Keepa’s Chrome Web Store listing describes Amazon price-history charts, price-drop alerts, and availability alerts; it says tracking can start without an account. It is an Amazon-focused browser extension. Review the listing’s current browser, device, permissions, and alert-channel details before installing or depending on it: Keepa on the Chrome Web Store.

Compare the alert options

Check whether the sale is actually a good price
A notification means a tracked condition changed; it does not prove the final deal is the best available. Compare the same model and condition, confirm the seller, and check shipping, taxes, coupons, and the live checkout total.
Price history helps put a discount in context. Amazon says eligible product pages can show up to 365 days of history, and Camelcamelcamel provides charts with high, low, and average prices. Amazon’s availability and time range vary: its price-history information lists the US, UK, Canada, and India, and said 365-day insights were rolling out in the US, UK, and India. Consult Amazon’s price-history feature page for current availability. Camelcamelcamel also advises shoppers to check Amazon before purchasing.

For Amazon, compare like with like: Amazon’s own price, a third-party new offer, and a third-party used offer are not interchangeable. A low historical price for one seller class does not establish that the same price is available for another.
Troubleshoot missing or confusing alerts
- No notification arrives: confirm the item is still on your tracked list, then check account and device notification permissions, email filters, and the service’s alert-channel settings.
- The price appears unchanged: check whether the alert tracks a different seller, condition, variant, or marketplace than the listing you are viewing.
- The alert price is lower than checkout: verify shipping, taxes, coupons, and whether the offer is still live; use the checkout total as the amount that matters.
- Chrome has no tracking command: check that you are signed in, sync and the documented browsing setting are enabled, and the feature is offered in your country.
- A tracker does not support the listing: confirm the item is on a supported Amazon marketplace and that you used its product URL rather than a search-results page.
The cited services describe alert functions, but do not establish a guaranteed delivery time, coverage of every listing, or a guaranteed saving. Treat an alert as a prompt to re-check, not an automatic buying instruction.
