In Fortnite’s Showdown season, you could get Ice King Gauntlets by defeating the Ice King at Frigid Fortress and picking up his drop. That is the official season-specific method—not a guarantee that the boss or gauntlets are still available in the live game today. As of October 4, 2026, Epic’s latest release notes checked here do not confirm their current Battle Royale availability.
How to get the gauntlets in the Showdown season
- Travel to Frigid Fortress, the Ice King’s castle location.
- Defeat the Ice King.
- Pick up the Ice King Gauntlets he drops.
Epic described this as the Showdown-season route. The gauntlets were a boss drop, not an item you needed to buy. Epic’s Showdown announcement
Are Ice King Gauntlets available now?
That is not confirmed by the official release notes available as of October 4, 2026. Epic’s October 1 v42.30 notes and September 17 v42.20 notes do not establish whether the gauntlets remain in the Battle Royale loot pool or whether the Ice King’s Frigid Fortress drop route is still active. Their absence from those notes does not prove the item is vaulted; check the live map and loot pool before making a trip to the location.

Why Epic’s release notes appear to conflict
The notices describe different points in the gauntlets’ rollout:
- March 19, 2026 — v40.00: Epic said the gauntlets were accidentally included in the release and removed. v40.00 Known Issues
- April 1, 2026 — v40.10: Epic listed Ice King Gauntlets among new weapons in its ecosystem release notes. v40.10 release notes
- Showdown season: Epic’s season announcement documented the Ice King at Frigid Fortress as the drop source. That later route does not mean the item stayed available in every subsequent season.
In the v40.00 Known Issues thread, Epic staff member Flak wrote: “The following items were accidentally included in the 40.00 release and have been removed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” That statement concerns the initial release; it does not establish the gauntlets’ current status.

What the gauntlets do
Epic described two attacks: ice projectiles as the primary attack, and an area ice storm that deals damage over time. The announcement did not provide a damage value or drop rate, so neither should be assumed.
