Recruit Dolls through Procurement, then strengthen them with levels, limit breaks, Neural Helix, and Fortification. Weapons and attachments are separate progression systems that further improve combat performance. Because banners, rates, unlock levels, and costs can change, use the live in-game screens for current requirements and rules.
How to recruit Dolls
Procurement is the system for obtaining Dolls. A beginner guide describes Standard Procurement as a permanent option and Limited Procurement as the route for new and returning Dolls. Limited Procurement has separate Doll and weapon banners. The game’s official announcements use the labels Targeted Procurement for featured Dolls and Military Upgrade for featured weapons, and publish limited reunion banners on an event schedule. These labels and schedules do not establish which banner is live now.

The beginner guide gives version-specific pool and guarantee details for Standard Procurement, but those figures should not be treated as universal or current. Before spending Procurement currency, open the banner’s Details panel and read the rules for your region and the active event. Official notices can confirm that a banner was announced, but an older notice does not confirm the current lineup. See the official Girls’ Frontline 2 announcements for event notices.
How to upgrade a Doll
Raise the Doll’s level
Use Combat Reports to gain levels. A character guide describes the Doll level cap as tied to Commander Level, so a Doll cannot out-level your account’s progression. When a Doll reaches a cap, check its current limit-break requirements in the game before planning further level gains; the guide describes limit breaks at ten-level milestones beginning at level 20, but requirements can be version-sensitive.

Complete limit breaks
Limit breaks raise the level ceiling as progression advances. They are gates, not a substitute for leveling: meet the displayed requirement, perform the break, then use Combat Reports to continue raising the Doll’s level. Check the Doll’s upgrade screen for the materials and Sardis Gold currently required.
Develop Neural Helix
Neural Helix is a skill-tree-like progression system that unlocks stats and Keys, which can change or strengthen how a Doll functions. Neural Survey is described as a source of Helix materials and unlocks at Commander Level 15. Confirm the current mode screen and your available nodes before spending materials, since unlocks and costs can change.
Use Fortification for duplicates
Fortification uses duplicate Dolls to improve skills. It serves a different purpose from Neural Helix: Helix develops stats and Keys, while Fortification improves skills through duplicates. The character guide says skills are available at base level, so duplicates should not be mistaken for a requirement to unlock every skill.

Upgrade weapons and attachments
Weapons have their own leveling progression and can improve combat performance. Attachments add stats and set effects; the guide lists Personal Study as an attachment source and gives Commander Level 23 as its unlock point. These are additional systems rather than Doll upgrades, and their materials and availability should be checked in the corresponding current mode screens.

Sardis Gold is used to upgrade Dolls and weapons. A beginner progression guide recommends prioritizing Doll and weapon experience and limit-break materials early, with attachment farming later. Treat that order as a practical starting point rather than a universal efficiency rule: resource rewards and farming value can shift with game updates and account needs.
