Hostinger’s “free domain” is a first-year registration included with certain new paid hosting purchases—not a standalone free domain. To qualify, choose a plan and billing term that show the domain benefit at checkout, select an available eligible extension, and claim it during setup or from your Hostinger account. The domain must be renewed at the standard rate after its first year.

What Hostinger’s free-domain offer includes

Hostinger states that the free domain is valid for one year. The eligible hosting purchase is paid; the offer covers the first year of domain registration, not ongoing renewals or hosting charges.

Hostinger’s promotional page highlights annual Premium and Business web-hosting plans. Its support pages describe additional possible categories, including some cloud, VPS, and email plans. Because those lists differ, do not assume a particular category qualifies in every brand or region. Confirm the benefit for the exact plan and billing term in your checkout or account claim screen.

Which purchases qualify?

The consistent rule in Hostinger’s current help guidance is a new eligible purchase with a term of at least 12 months. The precise qualifying plans and extensions can vary by offer, brand, and region.

  • Usually excluded: monthly plans, Single Web Hosting, upgrades, renewals, and changing the billing cycle on an existing subscription.
  • Plan details to verify: Hostinger’s help pages name Web Premium and Business, and one also lists certain cloud, KVM VPS, and Business Premium Email plans. The promotional page is narrower. Check your own offer rather than treating every listed category as universally eligible.
  • Extension availability: the eligible list can change and differs by brand or promotion. The account claim screen shows which extensions are available to you.

Hostinger’s current help guidance describes eligible new Web Premium, Web Business, and cloud purchases on 12-, 24-, or 48-month terms; another help article gives a broader set of possible plan categories and a 12-month-or-longer rule. The offer page focuses on annual Premium and Business web hosting. These differences make the benefit shown for your specific purchase the most reliable eligibility check.

How to claim the domain

  1. Choose a new eligible hosting plan. Select a billing term of at least 12 months and confirm the free-domain benefit is shown for that plan and region before paying. Check the full checkout total and billing term, not only a monthly equivalent.
  2. Open the claim flow. Search for a domain during setup, or sign in to your Hostinger account and open the domain-claim option in the dashboard.
  3. Choose an available name and eligible extension. The name must be available, and the extension must appear as included in your claim flow.
  4. Review the charges and dates. Before confirming, check the displayed registration price, renewal price, and renewal date. The exact renewal cost depends on the extension.
  5. Enter accurate registrant information and verify the domain. Hostinger says verification must be completed within 15 days to keep the domain active.
  6. Submit the claim within the deadline. Hostinger says to claim within 12 months of the eligible purchase. Save the renewal date so you can decide whether to keep the domain before the included year ends.

Hostinger estimates that activation and propagation usually finish within a few hours; this is an estimate, not a guarantee of immediate availability everywhere.

What happens after the first year?

The included registration ends after one year. To keep the domain, renew it at the standard rate. The amount depends on the extension, so use the price and date shown in your account claim flow rather than assuming all domains renew for the same fee. Hosting charges are separate and continue according to the hosting subscription’s terms.

Hostinger says the free domain is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for another name. If the associated hosting subscription is refunded, the domain’s cost may be deducted from the refund; the domain can remain usable for the rest of its registration period.

Claiming a new domain versus transferring one you own

A free first-year registration and a free transfer are different offers. If you already own a domain, Hostinger’s transfer instructions describe eligibility tied to certain new Premium or Business web or cloud hosting purchases of 12 months or longer, with a limited set of extensions. Do not assume an extension eligible for a new registration is also eligible for a free transfer. Check the transfer offer and its extension restrictions separately.

How to decide whether the offer is worthwhile

Compare the full hosting commitment with the value of the first-year domain benefit. Before ordering, check:

  • the total upfront hosting charge and the length of the billing term;
  • whether the exact plan qualifies in your region;
  • whether your preferred name is available with an extension shown as included;
  • the renewal price and date for that specific extension; and
  • whether you need a newly registered domain or a transfer of one you already own.

There is no universally best plan based on the domain offer alone: plan eligibility and the value of the bundle depend on your hosting needs and the terms displayed for your purchase.
