To generate a dynamic product preview, first decide whether you need a realistic mockup that places artwork into a product scene or a branded product card filled with changing data. For a mockup, choose a template and its target smart object, then send the design asset to a render API. For a data-driven card, populate a reusable graphic template with fields such as product name, price, badge, and image URL.

Choose the kind of preview you need

“Dynamic product preview” can refer to two different outputs. Picking the right one determines the template, inputs, and API workflow.

Output What changes Best fit
Product mockup Supplied artwork is composited into a product scene, such as a shirt mockup. Showing how a design may look on a physical product.
Data-driven product card Fields such as product name, price, description, badge, colors, and image URL fill a reusable graphic. Branded catalog cards or share images that change with product data.

Dynamic Mockups documents the scene-mockup workflow, while ogdynamic documents reusable templates populated with fields and image URLs. Dynamic Mockups: how the API works · ogdynamic template and automation documentation.

Generate a product mockup with a render API

A mockup render requires a chosen template, the identifier for the smart object you want to replace, and the artwork to place there. In Dynamic Mockups, a smart object is the target layer in the mockup. Its render API accepts a mockup UUID and smart-object UUIDs; the asset can be supplied as a publicly accessible image URL or, as documented, as a binary file using multipart form data. See the Dynamic Mockups Render Mockup API for the current endpoint, request schema, and required credentials.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

1. Select or create the template

The getting-started flow describes choosing a mockup from a public library or uploading a PSD, then using the resulting mockup and smart-object identifiers in the render request. Set up an account and use its API key. Documentation sample credentials are examples, not credentials for your production account. The vendor’s getting-started guide includes a sandbox example.

2. Prepare the artwork input

If you provide an image URL, make sure the rendering service can reach it without authentication or network restrictions. A private bucket URL, expiring link, or asset behind a login may not be fetchable. If using multipart upload, follow the API’s documented field names and accepted file formats. Check that the asset is the intended design and that its dimensions and orientation suit the target smart object.

3. Request and validate the render

Submit the template and smart-object identifiers along with the image asset. The documented render options include PNG by default, JPEG, PNG, or WebP output; a requested width with height scaled automatically; and a mode that displays the image rather than triggering a download. Consult the API reference for exact parameter names and response behavior before writing a production integration.

Inspect the returned image at its actual display size. Confirm that the artwork is placed and cropped as intended, that the chosen format is accepted by your downstream page or catalog, and that the render is not merely a successful HTTP response containing an error. The documentation establishes these options but does not establish universal image-quality, speed, pricing, retention, or rate-limit comparisons.

Generate a data-driven product card

For a designed card rather than a scene mockup, create a reusable graphic template with variable fields, then pass product values and image URLs as URL parameters or POST data. ogdynamic documents this model for dynamic text, colors, image URLs, and product attributes. Review its template and automation documentation for supported fields and the request format. This approach changes the content inside a designed graphic; it does not mean artwork is being wrapped into a physical-product scene.

Compare by fit, not an unsupported performance ranking

The official documentation establishes different output and integration models, but it does not provide an independent benchmark that supports declaring one service fastest or best in image quality. Before choosing, verify the current API behavior, rate limits, output retention, security requirements, licensing, and price directly with the provider.

Decision What to verify
Output Whether you need artwork composited into a scene or a branded card populated with product data.
Template control Whether a template library is sufficient or you need to use custom PSDs or another supported template type.
Asset delivery Whether the API accepts a public image URL, a binary upload, or both; confirm access permissions and accepted formats.
Customization Which placement, fit, color, text, and output controls are documented for your chosen service.
Integration and scale Whether you need a single render, a batch endpoint, a frontend URL, or a backend generation flow; verify limits with the provider.

Troubleshoot failed or incorrect previews

  • The render cannot load the artwork: Confirm that the asset URL is publicly reachable by the rendering service, has not expired, and does not require cookies, a login, or a private network connection. If the API supports it for your request, use the documented multipart upload method instead.
  • The wrong area of the mockup changes: Check that the mockup UUID and smart-object UUID identify the intended template and target layer. Recheck them when switching templates.
  • The design appears cropped or misplaced: Inspect the source asset’s dimensions and orientation, then adjust the artwork or placement using controls documented for that template and API. Preview the result before automating many products.
  • The output format or size is wrong: Set an explicitly supported format and requested width according to the render API. The documented API offers PNG by default and JPEG/PNG/WebP choices, with height scaled automatically when requesting a width.
  • A request works in a sandbox but not in production: Replace documentation sample credentials with your account’s API key and confirm the production request uses the correct template and smart-object identifiers.
  • A product card shows stale or missing values: Check that each dynamic field name and image URL matches the template’s documented inputs, and validate the values sent by URL parameters or POST data.
