If Wi-Fi or Bluetooth stopped working after a Galaxy update, start by restarting the phone and checking the network or accessory—not by resetting the phone. The timing alone does not establish that the update caused the problem. Work through the checks below in order; save the combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings reset for after simpler causes are ruled out.
Samsung’s instructions cover Galaxy devices generally, and menu names and button locations can differ by model and software version.
1. Restart the Galaxy and check the basics
Restart the phone, then test the connection again. For a forced restart, Samsung’s Wi-Fi instructions say to press and hold the Side key and Volume down key together for more than 7 seconds, until the device restarts. Button procedures can vary by model. Samsung’s Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide has the device-specific context.
For Wi-Fi
- Confirm Wi-Fi is turned on and enter the correct network password.
- Make sure the router is powered on and connected, and test from within range.
- Restart the router or modem, then check whether another device can detect and connect to the same network.
If other devices also cannot detect or use the network, the problem may be with the router or network rather than the Galaxy. Samsung advises contacting the router manufacturer when the network fails on other devices. Samsung Canada’s Wi-Fi guidance and Samsung Saudi Arabia’s Wi-Fi guidance cover these checks.

For Bluetooth
Check that the accessory is powered on, within range, and in pairing mode. How to enable pairing mode depends on the accessory’s make and model, so use its manufacturer’s instructions. If you are connecting to a car, start the search for the phone from the vehicle’s Bluetooth system and follow the vehicle maker’s pairing steps. 2. Use another device and Safe mode to narrow down Wi-Fi problems
Two comparisons can help identify whether the issue is with the network or the Galaxy:

- Test the same Wi-Fi network on another device. If it also fails there, focus on the router or network. If it works on other devices, continue with the Galaxy checks.
- Try Wi-Fi in Safe mode. Samsung says Wi-Fi working in Safe mode can indicate that a downloaded app is causing the problem. Exit Safe mode by restarting the phone.
Safe mode is useful for isolating a possible app conflict; it does not by itself identify which app is responsible. Samsung’s Wi-Fi guide provides its Safe mode instructions.
3. Remove and re-pair a Bluetooth accessory
If the accessory was paired with the Galaxy before, remove that pairing and connect again. This is a targeted step for one accessory; it is different from resetting all Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings.

- Open the Galaxy’s Bluetooth settings and select the previously paired accessory.
- Unpair or forget the accessory. The exact label may vary.
- Put the accessory back into pairing mode, then search for it from the Galaxy and pair again.
If the accessory does not appear, check its manufacturer’s instructions for pairing mode. For a car, initiate the search from the vehicle system and follow the vehicle maker’s directions. Samsung’s Bluetooth support page covers pairing and connection troubleshooting.
4. Check for software updates and run diagnostics
Check whether another Galaxy software update is available and install it if appropriate. Samsung also recommends using Phone diagnostics in the Samsung Members app to test Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, where the app and device support those tests. 5. Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings only if needed
If the checks above do not restore the connection, Samsung lists this reset path: Settings > General management > Reset > Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings > Reset settings. The wording or location can differ by model and software version; use Settings search if the labels do not match.
This reset removes saved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection information. You may need to reconnect to networks and pair accessories again. It is not a factory reset, but take the reconnection work into account before proceeding. 6. Decide where to get help
- Wi-Fi fails on multiple devices, or the router is not broadcasting: contact the router manufacturer or your internet provider, as appropriate.
- Only the Galaxy has a persistent Wi-Fi problem: contact Samsung Support or arrange service if the checks and diagnostics do not resolve it.
- Bluetooth still fails with a specific accessory: check that accessory’s pairing instructions and contact its manufacturer if needed. If Galaxy troubleshooting does not resolve the problem, contact Samsung Support or a service center.
These are Samsung’s general connection-troubleshooting steps, not a model-specific notice that a particular update caused a failure. For device-specific help, provide Samsung Support with the Galaxy model, software version, the connection symptoms, and which checks you have already tried.
