Work through the steps below in order; save Reset Network Settings for last because it removes saved network details.
1. Confirm your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi Calling must be supported by your carrier for your account, iPhone, and region. Availability varies, so check with your carrier if the feature is missing or you cannot enable it. Apple’s setup and troubleshooting guidance is at Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling.
2. Turn it on for the right cellular line
Wi-Fi Calling is configured per line on an iPhone with multiple SIMs. Make sure you select the line you intend to use.
- Open Settings > Cellular.
- Select the relevant cellular line.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling, then turn on Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- Follow any prompts, including a request to confirm your emergency-services address.
If the Wi-Fi Calling option is unavailable or the switch cannot be enabled, ask your carrier to check that the feature is available and provisioned for that specific line.

3. Check for carrier settings and iOS updates
Carrier settings can add support for features such as Wi-Fi Calling. Connect to Wi-Fi or a mobile network, then open Settings > General > About. Follow an update prompt if one appears. See Apple’s instructions for updating network provider settings manually.
Also check for an iOS update under Settings > General > Software Update. Apple’s troubleshooting advice includes checking that the iPhone software is current; it does not establish iOS 18 itself as the cause of Wi-Fi Calling failures. For call-related software checks, see If your call fails or you can’t receive calls on your iPhone.

4. Restart the iPhone and test another Wi-Fi network
Restart the iPhone, connect to a different Wi-Fi network, and try Wi-Fi Calling again. Apple cautions that “Not all Wi-Fi networks work with Wi-Fi Calling.” If it works on another network, that points to the original network as a likely factor, though it does not identify the exact cause.
5. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling off and on
For the selected line, open Settings > Cellular > [line] > Wi-Fi Calling. Turn off Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone, wait two minutes, then turn it on again. Follow any setup prompts that appear.

6. Reset network settings only if the earlier steps fail
A network-settings reset is more disruptive than the checks above. It erases saved Wi-Fi passwords and preferred networks, along with previously used VPN and APN settings. You will need to reconnect to Wi-Fi and may need to reconfigure VPN or APN details.
- Open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- After the iPhone restarts, reconnect to Wi-Fi and test Wi-Fi Calling.
Apple documents this reset and its consequences in its iPhone call troubleshooting guidance.

Apple directs users to contact their carrier when the iPhone is current and the carrier supports the feature but Wi-Fi Calling still cannot be enabled or used. When cellular service is unavailable, an iPhone may use Wi-Fi Calling for emergency calls. The device’s location or the registered emergency-services address may help emergency responders. Follow your carrier’s address prompts and local emergency instructions. Apple explains this behavior in Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling and Make calls using Wi-Fi on iPhone.
