Fix Buffer on iPhone or iPad by first identifying where it fails: installation or launch, sign-in, one channel, notifications, or publishing. Check your iOS and Buffer app versions, then follow the matching steps below. Buffer’s guidance lists possible causes and fixes; without the exact error and device details, no single cause can be assumed.
Start with compatibility and the type of failure
Buffer’s mobile app getting-started guide lists iOS 17 or later and Buffer iOS v14.3 as minimum requirements. The same guide says people who previously downloaded Buffer may be able to install the last version supported by their device; its example is that an iOS 16 device can access the last compatible v14 release. Requirements and App Store compatibility can change, so check your installed app version and the current Apple App Store listing before concluding that a device is unsupported.
Pinpoint the failure before trying fixes. Does Buffer fail to install or open, reject your login, get stuck loading, fail on one connected channel, omit a publishing alert, or fail to upload media? Note the exact error, iOS version, Buffer version, network in use, and whether every channel or only one is affected. Those details distinguish an app-wide problem from a channel, account, or network issue.
If you can’t sign in
Buffer lists incorrect credentials, connectivity problems, VPN interference, and ad blockers as possible causes of mobile login trouble. Try these checks in order, changing one thing at a time:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Re-enter the email address and password associated with your Buffer account. Check spelling and capitalization: Buffer notes that passwords are case-sensitive.
- If you are on Wi-Fi, turn Wi-Fi off and try signing in over cellular data. If you are on cellular data, try a trusted Wi-Fi connection.
- If you use a VPN, temporarily turn it off and retry. Buffer also suggests allowing Buffer through the VPN; security or threat-protection features can interfere with connections. Its help article says, “If you’re connected to the Internet via a VPN, try disabling the VPN or safe listing Buffer.”
- Temporarily disable an ad blocker or add Buffer to its allowlist, then test again.
These are diagnostic checks, not proof that a particular setting caused the failure. For the full steps, see Buffer’s mobile login troubleshooting guide.
If Buffer opens but one channel is failing
A problem confined to one social channel may be a connection issue rather than a failure of the whole app. In Buffer, open Publish, select the affected channel, open its settings, and choose Refresh this Channel connection if that option is available. Buffer documents this action in its mobile app guide; a refresh is not guaranteed to resolve platform-side problems.

If the issue is that a post is scheduled for the wrong time, check that channel’s timezone and posting schedule in its settings. These settings are per-channel, so confirm the affected channel rather than assuming the entire account uses the same configuration.
If Buffer notifications are missing
First check that iOS allows Buffer to send notifications. Open Settings on the iPhone or iPad, find Notifications, select Buffer, and enable notifications. Labels can vary slightly by iOS version.

Then reset Buffer’s push notification registration: in Buffer, open Account Settings > Push Notifications > Reset Push Notifications. Buffer’s notification guide also describes sending a test notification from channel settings on the web. Follow its current notification publishing instructions if the reset does not restore alerts.
If Buffer says a post was sent but it is not live
“Sent” can mean Buffer sent you a notification, not that the social network has published the post. With notification publishing, you must tap the alert, open the destination social app, and complete the posting steps there. If that final action was skipped, the post may not appear on your profile.

Buffer’s guide currently documents notification publishing for Instagram accounts, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook Groups, and lists other platforms where the mode is unavailable. Platform support can change; check Buffer’s current platform and notification publishing guidance rather than assuming every channel publishes the same way.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If a photo or video upload fails
Separate an upload error from notification publishing. If Buffer returns an upload error, note its exact wording and check whether the failure affects one file or all media. If the post appears in Buffer as sent but is absent from the social profile, confirm whether it required you to finish publishing in the social app. Buffer’s video upload troubleshooting guide discusses both upload problems and notification publishing.

If the error suggests a service problem, check Buffer’s status page for a current incident. A status check can establish whether Buffer reports an issue; it does not by itself explain a failure on a specific device or social account.
What to include when asking for help
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, report the failure with details that narrow down its scope:
Quick Recap
- What fails: install, launch, login, channel loading, media upload, notification, or final publishing.
- The exact error message or what happens on screen.
- Your iOS version and Buffer app version.
- Whether you tested Wi-Fi and cellular data, and whether a VPN or ad blocker is active.
- Whether the problem affects all channels or just one, and whether the post uses automatic or notification publishing.
