Start by identifying how your glasses connect: camera-and-audio glasses such as Ray-Ban Meta pair through an app and Bluetooth, while display glasses such as XREAL need a compatible video signal from the phone. The fixes are different. For display glasses, a USB-C port alone does not mean the phone can send video.
First, identify the connection type
Check the glasses’ model and setup guide. If you set them up in a companion app and use them for camera or audio features, troubleshoot app and Bluetooth pairing. If they are meant to show the phone’s screen, troubleshoot the video connection, host compatibility, and cable instead.

These categories are not interchangeable. Use the Ray-Ban Meta steps below only for that product family; other brands and generations may use different apps, controls, and pairing procedures.
If camera or audio glasses won’t pair
Check power, Bluetooth, and app setup
- Charge and switch on the glasses. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the phone.
- Open the Meta AI app and sign in. Follow its setup prompts for the glasses.
- Put the glasses into pairing mode using the instructions for your model. For Ray-Ban Meta, the US FAQ says to fold both arms and hold the capture button for 12 seconds, until the frame LED blinks blue. For first-time setup, follow the app’s case-pairing instructions if shown.

Clear a stuck pairing
- Close and reopen the Meta AI app.
- Power-cycle the glasses and phone.
- Toggle Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off and back on.
- Remove the glasses from the Meta AI app and the phone’s Bluetooth device list, then pair again through the app.
If normal restarting does not help, the FAQ also describes a force restart that does not delete captures or require pairing again. Do not substitute a factory reset: Ray-Ban warns that a factory reset deletes captures and requires pairing the glasses again. Use the instructions linked above to distinguish the two procedures for your model.
If pairing still fails after these steps, use Ray-Ban’s support or warranty route through the FAQ rather than repeatedly resetting the glasses.

If display glasses won’t show the phone screen
Verify the phone can output video
Check the exact phone model’s specifications for USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode, sometimes described as DP Alt Mode or USB-C DisplayPort video output. A USB-C-shaped connector may support charging or data without supporting video, so the connector alone cannot confirm compatibility.
Then confirm that the glasses support direct display from that phone. XREAL’s connection guide says direct phone connection requires DP output; its instructions for the ROG XREAL R1 describe the glasses powering on and showing the phone screen when the requirement is met. These connection paths are model-specific, so check the guide for your exact glasses and host.

Check the cable and physical connection
- Unplug and firmly reseat the cable at both ends.
- Use the glasses’ included cable or a known full-featured video cable. A charge-only or data-only cable cannot carry the display signal.
- Look for the glasses’ startup or logo screen. If it does not appear, check the physical connection and cable, then test with another host known to support DP video output.
XREAL’s black-screen and connection guidance recommends checking the cable and whether the host supports video output. A replacement cable is relevant only if the phone supports video and the cable is damaged or lacks video capability.

Interpret the screen behavior
- No startup logo: Start with the cable, connector seating, and host video support. If possible, test a known compatible host to isolate the phone.
- Logo appears, then a reconnect or video-output warning: The glasses started, but a usable DP signal was not detected. Recheck host compatibility and the video path.
- The glasses work normally, but one app is black: Check whether that app allows output to an external display. The issue may be the app’s behavior, not the glasses’ connection.

An adapter or dock is not a universal fix. It can help only when the exact host and glasses support that connection route. Match the adapter’s input to the host’s output and its output to the glasses’ required input; verify compatibility in the manufacturers’ documentation before buying.

XREAL documents adapter or dock routes for certain hosts, and VITURE lists its own compatibility conditions. Neither establishes that a generic USB-C hub, HDMI adapter, or DisplayPort adapter will make a phone without video output work with display glasses. When to contact the manufacturer
- For Ray-Ban Meta, contact support through Ray-Ban’s FAQ if pairing remains broken after restart and unpairing/re-pairing.
- For display glasses, contact the maker if the signal is still absent on a host confirmed to support the glasses’ required video connection, after checking the cable and connectors.
When contacting support, provide the exact glasses and phone models, the connection method, and what appears on the glasses (no logo, a warning, or a black screen in one app). These details help distinguish pairing, host compatibility, cable, and app-output problems.
