If your Sennheiser headphones won’t connect, first charge them, remove every old entry for them from your phone or computer, then pair again using the instructions for your exact model. Pairing-button sequences differ by model. If you’re troubleshooting the Smart Control app, confirm that Bluetooth audio works before trying the app connection.
1. Charge the headphones and identify the exact model
Make sure the headphones have charge, then check the model name on the headphones, packaging, or in the device information available to you. Use that model’s manual for the pairing-mode instructions. Sennheiser’s support guidance directs users to the manual rather than prescribing one button sequence for all headphones.
2. Remove old Bluetooth pairings
On the phone, tablet, or computer you want to connect, open Bluetooth settings and forget or remove every saved entry for the headphones. If you see duplicate entries such as “Headphones” and “Headset,” or separate entries marked LE and Classic, remove those too. Old saved entries can interfere with a fresh pairing.
3. Put the headphones in pairing mode and reconnect
- Use the exact model’s manual to put the headphones in Bluetooth pairing mode.
- On your source device, open Bluetooth settings and choose the headphones from the list of available devices.
- When the device reports a connection, play audio to confirm that sound comes through the headphones.
If the headphones do not appear, check that they are still in pairing mode and repeat the model-specific steps. Avoid trying a button sequence from a different Sennheiser model.

4. If Smart Control is the problem, troubleshoot the app link separately
Bluetooth audio and the Sennheiser Smart Control app use different connections: Bluetooth Classic carries audio, while Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) is used for the app. A device may appear connected in a menu or app without an active audio connection, so establish and test sound first. Then open Smart Control and follow its on-screen pairing steps. Sennheiser’s Smart Control pairing guidance was updated April 6, 2026.
If audio works but the app will not connect
- Remove the headphones from Smart Control and forget their entries in your device’s Bluetooth settings, then try app pairing again.
- Check whether other active Bluetooth connections are interfering, and power-cycle both the source device and headphones.
- Check location services as part of app-pairing troubleshooting; this is not a universal fix for ordinary Bluetooth audio pairing.
5. Test with another phone, tablet, or computer
Try pairing the headphones with another source device. If they connect and play audio there, the problem is more likely specific to the original phone, tablet, or computer. If they fail to connect to multiple devices after old pairings are cleared, the issue may be with the headphones or their model-specific setup. Sennheiser also recommends trying another device when app pairing problems persist.

6. Consider a reset only after re-pairing attempts
Reset options and their effects vary. An ordinary reset may preserve settings, while a factory reset can erase pairing information or other settings. Follow the instructions for your exact model and confirm what its reset does before proceeding.

- ACCENTUM Plus: The manual distinguishes an ordinary reset, which does not delete pairing settings, from a factory reset, which does. Its factory-reset procedure uses a 25-second multifunction-button hold or the app. Check the ACCENTUM Plus manual for the exact procedure.

7. Contact Sennheiser if pairing still fails
If clean re-pairing, another source device, and the correct model-specific reset do not resolve the problem, contact Sennheiser support. Include the exact headphone model and the phone, tablet, or computer you are trying to connect, including its operating system if known. That information helps support narrow down whether the problem is model setup, the source device, or the headphones.
