OLED TV glare is room light reflected off the screen. Start by changing the light source or your viewing setup—not by hunting for a universal picture setting. Close or adjust blinds, turn off or move lamps that show on the display, then check the image again. If reflections remain a problem, compare the exact TV model’s anti-reflection treatment and its tradeoffs.
Why an OLED screen reflects windows and lamps
A TV screen can reflect bright objects in the room just as other glossy surfaces do. Samsung describes glare as light from windows, lamps, or other sources reflecting off the screen and making the picture harder to see (Samsung support). The visible reflection is coming from the room; a picture adjustment cannot remove the reflected object.
Try these room changes first
- Identify the source. While the reflection is visible, look for a window, overhead light, table lamp, or other bright surface reflected in the screen.
- Reduce or redirect that light. Close or adjust curtains or blinds during the affected viewing time. Turn off, dim, or reposition a lamp that appears on screen. If practical, adjust the TV or seating so direct light is not reflected toward the viewer.
- Reassess the picture. Make one change at a time so you can tell whether it helped. These are practical steps based on how reflections occur; the cited manufacturer guidance does not quantify their effect or prescribe a universal TV placement.
Room-darkening curtains may help with daylight from a window, but they are not a fix for a lamp reflection or every lighting angle. A brighter picture might be easier to see in some conditions, but it does not eliminate the reflected image.
Check whether the screen is dirty
Smudges and dust can make an image look less clear, but cleaning addresses dirt—not room-light reflections. Follow the care instructions for your exact TV model. For example, an LG OLED55B3PSA-family manual advises unplugging the TV and wiping gently with a soft, dry cloth; it warns against spraying liquid directly onto the display and using glass cleaner, alcohol, or abrasives (LG OLED55B3PSA-family manual and support). Other models may have different instructions, so use their manuals.

Do not peel or add screen film without model-specific guidance
A layer on the display is not necessarily leftover packaging. LG Korea says that, on applicable LG TVs, a removal sticker or printed instruction text indicates a removable protective film. Without either indicator, the surface film is the functional polarizing film; removing it can make the screen unusable (LG Korea support, June 23, 2026). This guidance is specific to LG TVs; check the relevant manufacturer’s instructions for another brand.
No compatibility or effectiveness for aftermarket anti-glare films is established by the cited sources. Do not apply one unless the manufacturer confirms it is suitable for your exact model.

What anti-reflection features can—and cannot—tell you
Anti-reflection treatments differ by model. LG says diffusion-based treatments can scatter light but may also make a screen look hazy, soften fine detail, or reduce color vibrancy. LG describes its Reflection-Free Premium approach as reducing reflectance while preserving light transmission (LG UK OLED evo models). These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent comparisons.
Feature availability is specific to the model, size, and region. Samsung’s US announcement dated April 2, 2026, identifies Glare Free on its 2026 S95H and S90H series (Samsung 2026 OLED announcement). LG’s UK page lists Reflection-Free Premium on selected 2026 OLED evo models and notes size or model exceptions. Verify the exact regional product page rather than assuming every TV in a series has the feature.

Samsung also says UL Solutions verified Glare Free performance under indoor lighting conditions using Unified Glare Rating thresholds of reflection glare UGR ≤ 10, discomfort glare UGR ≤ 22, and disability glare UGR ≤ 34 (Samsung support). Those are Samsung-reported verification conditions, not a guarantee for every room or a comparison with all OLED TVs.

- Reflection behavior: Look for model-specific evidence about whether reflections are reduced or diffused.
- Haze, detail, and color: Consider the possible tradeoffs LG describes for diffusion-based treatments.
- Exact size and region: Check the product page for the precise model number and screen size; features may not carry across a whole lineup.
- Your lighting and viewing times: Note whether the problem is direct daylight, overhead lighting, or lamps at night. The cited sources do not establish a universally best treatment for each room.
- Whether replacement is necessary: Try reversible room changes first; they do not require replacing the TV.
