First identify which connection mode is failing: HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, USB, or 3.5 mm. Then test that mode on its own, confirm the host is routing sound to the headset, and check pairing, interference, and model-specific software. These steps apply to the BlackShark V3 Pro family RZ04-0540x; verify your exact model and platform before installing a download.
Identify the connection mode that fails
The BlackShark V3 Pro supports HyperSpeed Wireless over 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, USB, and 3.5 mm connections. Testing one path at a time helps distinguish a headset-wide problem from a receiver, pairing, or host-setting issue. Razer documents the modes and controls on its BlackShark V3 Pro support page.
- 2.4 GHz: Check whether the headset connects through its USB receiver and whether sound cuts out or never starts.
- Bluetooth: Test pairing and playback separately from the receiver.
- USB or 3.5 mm: Use either wired path as a comparison. If wired audio works but wireless does not, focus on wireless mode, pairing, receiver, or interference.
To switch wireless modes, press the SmartSwitch button twice to cycle through HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, and simultaneous audio. A single press selects EQ; it does not change connection mode.
How do I switch connection modes?
Use the SmartSwitch double-press to move among HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, and simultaneous audio. For troubleshooting, choose one mode and test it before switching again. If you are trying to use simultaneous audio, confirm that both intended sources are connected and that the host is sending playback to the right endpoint.

Fix Bluetooth pairing with the Razer Audio App
- Switch the headset to Bluetooth mode.
- Hold the power button until the headset light blinks blue.
- Open the Razer Audio App and choose Add Devices.
- Select BlackShark V3 Pro when it appears.
If the headset does not appear, confirm it is in Bluetooth pairing mode and close distance between the headset and phone or other host while pairing.
Check the host’s playback and microphone routing
A headset appearing as connected—or a moving audio meter—does not prove that playback is routed to it. On the computer, console, or phone, select the BlackShark V3 Pro as the output device and play audio again. For the microphone, select the headset microphone as the input device and check that the mic mute toggle is off. Razer’s exact-model guidance says to “Ensure the mic mute toggle is off and the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro is selected as the input device.”

- Raise the host playback volume and check the app’s own output selection.
- Check the headset’s mic mute toggle before testing voice input.
- If the microphone is missing, reselect the BlackShark V3 Pro input in the operating system or calling app.
If you use Synapse or THX Spatial Audio, first test the regular headset playback endpoint. Then check the selected endpoint and application settings. Razer lists Synapse 4 support and THX Spatial Audio integration for the headset; its product page says full THX 7.1.4 support requires Windows 11 version 23H2 or later: Razer BlackShark V3 Pro product details.
Troubleshoot intermittent 2.4 GHz audio
If audio drops or crackles over the USB receiver, keep the headset near the host and reduce possible sources of wireless interference. If proximity and interference checks do not help, use the official Razer Headset Pairing Utility listed for the exact headset family on the RZ04-0540x support page. Do not install a utility or firmware package for a different model.
Check firmware and the pairing utility
Open the official RZ04-0540x support page, confirm the model and platform variant, and follow the updater’s prompts. The page lists updater v1.4.4_r1, released September 1, 2026, and Razer Headset Pairing Utility v1.12.07_r4, released April 24, 2026. These versions can change, so check the live support page before downloading.

If Bluetooth works but 2.4 GHz stopped working after a firmware update, one Razer Insider user reported resolving a similar problem after updating both the dongle and headset, with the headset updated separately over USB-C. If the fault persists across supported modes after checking mode selection, pairing, proximity, routing, and official software, contact Razer Support. Include the headset’s model number, host operating system, connection mode, firmware version, and the exact symptom. This helps separate a headset fault from a receiver, host, or mode-specific problem.
