If the Store is online, check that your account region and card billing details match, confirm your card permits online payments, and then try another payment option shown at checkout. A payment error can come from the Store, account, card issuer, or payment provider, so no single fix is guaranteed.
1. Check whether the UAE PlayStation Store is available
PlayStation scheduled maintenance for the UAE Store from October 5 through October 8, 2026, to change its currency from US dollars to UAE dirhams. PlayStation says purchases cannot be made while the Store is offline. Check the PlayStation service status before troubleshooting a card or repeating a purchase attempt. The maintenance dates are PlayStation’s published schedule; check current status rather than assuming the Store remains offline after October 8.
PlayStation’s transition notice says the AED currency change will let customers see charges in local currency after the Store returns. It also sets out how existing wallet balances and US-dollar gift cards are handled during the change.
2. Make sure your account region and billing address match
A payment card registered to an address in a different country from your PlayStation Store region may not link. Check the region of the account’s Store and make sure the billing address you enter matches the address held by your bank or card provider. Do not enter a false address to work around a region mismatch. PlayStation’s guidance for error code E-8200012C likewise says to check the card details and match the account address to the card’s registered address.

If your name or address includes special characters, PlayStation suggests trying the nearest basic Latin-letter equivalent and avoiding certain punctuation in payment details. This is a formatting suggestion, not a guarantee that your bank or address system will accept an altered version.
3. Check the card and ask the issuer about declines
- Confirm that the card type is accepted for the UAE Store. PlayStation lists American Express, Visa, and Mastercard.
- Check that online payments are enabled for the card and that its details, including expiry date, are current and accurate.
- If the payment still fails, ask your bank or card provider whether the card is activated for this type of payment, has available funds, or has been blocked or declined.
An accepted card network does not guarantee approval: an individual card product or issuer may still decline the transaction. PlayStation’s error code WS-43689-0 indicates that a credit-card payment may have failed; its suggested options include checking or re-registering the card, trying another card, waiting if the issue is temporary, or adding funds to the wallet with a PlayStation Store card.

4. Stop retrying if PlayStation has put payment changes on hold
If PlayStation says payment details were “updated too often within a short amount of time,” it instructs you to wait 24 hours. Attempts to update the information during that period restart the 24-hour block. Repeatedly registering and deleting a card can also temporarily prevent payment-information changes. Stop changing the details and wait out the hold before trying again.
5. Try another payment method shown for your account
PlayStation’s UAE accepted-method list includes American Express, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Du, Etisalat, and Apple Pay. The options available at checkout can depend on the account and purchase, so use the methods actually displayed for your account.

PayPal
If PayPal is offered at checkout, check that the linked funding methods are activated and unexpired. PlayStation also suggests trying another device, waiting 24 hours from the last purchase attempt if the issue may be temporary, contacting PayPal, or choosing another method.
Du or Etisalat carrier billing
PlayStation lists Du and Etisalat for mobile payments. The SIM and PlayStation account must be registered in the same country or region, and your carrier may impose spending limits.

Apple Pay
Apple Pay appears on PlayStation’s UAE payment-method list. If it is available for your account and purchase, select it at checkout; the published list does not guarantee it will appear for every transaction.

You can add funds to your PlayStation wallet using an accepted payment method or a PlayStation Store gift card or voucher. PlayStation applies wallet funds to a purchase first; if the balance does not cover the full amount, the remainder can be charged to another payment method. Child accounts do not have their own wallet: purchases use the family manager’s wallet, subject to the account spending limit.

Before buying a voucher, check that its region, currency, denomination, and redemption terms work with your account. PlayStation’s 2026 currency-transition notice says existing US-dollar PlayStation gift cards remain valid and that redemptions after maintenance completes convert to local currency using the same formula as wallet funds. The notice states a conversion formula of 1 USD = 4.00 AED for wallet balances and those redemptions; this is the notice’s transition formula, not a market exchange-rate quote.
When to contact support
If the Store is available, your billing details are accurate, and the issuer has not identified a block, contact PlayStation Support with the exact error message or code. For a card decline, also contact the bank or card provider. Payment errors do not all have the same cause, so the exact message and the account’s available checkout options are useful details to provide.
