If Ray-Ban Meta glasses have no sound, won’t connect, or aren’t responding to “Hey Meta,” start with Bluetooth and the relevant app settings before trying anything that erases data. For navigation directions, first confirm the phone’s mapping app is producing spoken prompts and sending audio to the glasses: the official FAQ supports phone audio over Bluetooth, but does not establish that every Ray-Ban Meta model has built-in maps or turn-by-turn navigation.
First identify what is not working
Different symptoms point to different parts of the audio path. Note whether the problem affects all audio, music, phone calls, voice-assistant responses, or only directions. Also check whether the glasses still appear as a connected Bluetooth audio device on the phone.
- Phone audio: Music or other phone audio is silent in the glasses.
- Call audio: You cannot hear callers, or they cannot hear you.
- Voice controls: “Hey Meta” or “OK Meta” does not respond reliably.
- Navigation directions: Spoken prompts from a phone mapping app do not come through the glasses.
When seeking model-specific help, have the glasses generation, phone operating system, mapping app, and country ready. Navigation features and availability can depend on the exact model and region.
Fix Bluetooth audio and connection problems
Ray-Ban’s official FAQ says phone audio can play through the glasses over Bluetooth even when the glasses are not connected to the Meta AI app. That means app connection and Bluetooth audio routing are related but distinct: check the phone’s Bluetooth connection as well as the app.

- Move the phone closer to the glasses. Then check that Bluetooth is enabled and the glasses show as connected on the phone.
- Cycle Bluetooth. Turn Bluetooth off, wait briefly, and turn it back on. Check whether the glasses reconnect and whether audio returns.
- Restart the Meta AI app. Close it, open it again, and test the affected sound.
- Restart both devices. Restart the phone. On the glasses, slide the On/Off switch off and then on, as directed by Ray-Ban.
- Check Android audio permissions for the connection. In the phone’s Bluetooth settings, confirm the glasses are enabled for both calls and audio. Android menus vary by phone maker.
- Unpair and pair again if the earlier checks fail. Remove the glasses from the Meta AI app and from the phone’s Bluetooth device list, then pair them again using the app’s pairing instructions.
Check where navigation directions are being sent
If directions aren’t coming through, first play a spoken prompt from the mapping app and confirm it can be heard from the phone or another audio output. Then verify that the glasses are connected over Bluetooth and selected as the phone’s audio output. This tests phone-generated directions without assuming the glasses themselves provide navigation.
The FAQ cited above confirms Bluetooth playback from a connected phone; it does not establish that all Ray-Ban Meta models display maps or offer pedestrian turn-by-turn directions. Do not apply feature instructions for Ray-Ban Meta Display to displayless glasses. The Display FAQ describes pedestrian navigation as a beta feature available only in select cities, which is specific to that model.

Restore “Hey Meta” and voice responses
If music works but voice commands do not, check the voice settings rather than repeating Bluetooth resets. Ray-Ban’s US FAQ directs users to check Voice, “Hey Meta,” and Wake sound in the Meta AI app. Wake sound is a separate setting; a missing wake chime by itself does not prove that the microphone or voice command is failing.
If voice remains unreliable, follow the current app and glasses software instructions in the FAQ under Microphone troubleshooting and Microphone adjustment. Try the adjustment before issuing a voice command or starting a call. Ray-Ban says not to toggle it during a call. If the adjustment does not help, the FAQ recommends turning it off and trying unpairing and pairing again.

Troubleshoot call microphone problems
If callers cannot hear you but other audio works, focus on the microphone and call-specific Bluetooth connection. Confirm on Android that the glasses are enabled for calls as well as audio. Use the Microphone adjustment steps in Ray-Ban’s FAQ before a call, not while a call is in progress. If call quality remains poor after the setting and re-pairing steps, contact Ray-Ban rather than assuming a software fix will resolve a suspected hardware fault.
Keep factory reset as a deliberate last resort
A factory reset is not the next step after a dropped Bluetooth connection. Ray-Ban warns that it permanently erases captures and associations between the glasses and the Meta Account; you must unpair and pair the glasses again. Before resetting, save anything you need and check the instructions for your model. Prefer the reversible Bluetooth, app, restart, and re-pairing checks first.

When to contact Ray-Ban
If audio is still absent, calls remain unusable, or voice and microphone quality remain poor after the applicable checks, use Ray-Ban’s warranty claim route. The process and any available coverage depend on country and purchase details. A claim does not guarantee repair, replacement, or a particular outcome.
