For Wi-Fi trouble, verify your exact model and Windows version, then check Lenovo’s matching WLAN driver listing and install applicable updates. These steps can resolve some software or settings problems, but they do not establish that every connection or input fault is software-related.
Start with the symptom
- Buttons or controller inputs are unresponsive: try the controller reset, then check for updates in Legion Space.
- A joystick moves the pointer or character without being touched, or feels too sensitive: inspect that stick’s dead-zone setting.
- Wi-Fi will not connect or keeps disconnecting: confirm the device model and Windows version before installing a WLAN driver; then use general network checks to help isolate the fault.
Lenovo’s cited FAQ and guide concern the first-generation, 8-inch Legion Go S. The WLAN package described below is specifically listed for models 8ARP1 and 8APU1 on Windows 11 64-bit, so do not assume it applies to every Go S configuration.
Reset a malfunctioning controller
- Hold Legion L + LB + Menu together for four seconds.
- Check whether controller input works normally afterward. Lenovo says this factory reset deletes data stored in the controller; it is not a factory reset of Windows or the whole console.
Lenovo documents this reset in its Legion Go S FAQ. If the controller remains unresponsive, check for offered drivers and BIOS updates through Legion Space.
Check controller drivers and BIOS in Legion Space
- Open Legion Space → Settings → Disks and Drivers → Check for Updates.
- Install applicable updates offered for the device, then reboot and test the controller again.
Lenovo’s general Legion Go S troubleshooting page recommends checking for driver and software updates and rebooting as a general troubleshooting measure. If Legion Space offers a BIOS update, connect the console to power first. Lenovo notes the display may go black for almost two minutes during the update; do not turn off the device or disconnect power while it is in progress.

Adjust joystick dead zones for drift or sensitivity
- In Legion Space, open Controllers → Joystick Settings.
- Select the left or right joystick and adjust its dead zone. Lenovo gives a setting range of 1% to 100%.
- Test the stick in a game or interface and make small adjustments until unintended input stops without making the stick feel unresponsive.
A larger dead zone means the stick must move farther before input registers. A very small dead zone can make it overly sensitive; Lenovo warns that a setting below 5% may result in drift. The setting can help with false input caused by sensitivity, but it cannot establish or repair mechanical damage. See Lenovo’s controller and joystick FAQ for its guidance.
Check the Legion Go S Wi-Fi driver
First identify the machine’s type/model and operating system in Windows settings or on the device’s product information. Lenovo lists MediaTek WLAN Driver MTK_25.40.2.586 as Recommended for Legion Go S 8ARP1 and 8APU1 running Windows 11 (64-bit). Lenovo gives its release and last-modified date as April 7, 2026. Use the Lenovo model-specific driver listing, confirm the model and OS match, and follow the installation instructions there. Restart after installation.

This listing confirms a package is available for those specified configurations; it does not show that a driver is the cause of any particular Wi-Fi failure or guarantee an update will fix it. If your model or operating system does not match, do not install this package based on the product family name alone; use Lenovo support for the correct listing.
Isolate a Wi-Fi connection problem
Lenovo’s cited Go S materials do not provide a device-specific Wi-Fi fault tree. The following are general troubleshooting checks, not a Lenovo-prescribed sequence:

- Check that Wi-Fi is enabled and that the Go S is attempting to join the intended network.
- Try a second known-working Wi-Fi network, if available. If the Go S connects there, investigate the original router or network; if it fails on both, the issue may be with the device, its software, or another factor.
- Restart the router and console, then try connecting again. Avoid changing router bands or resetting Windows network settings unless you understand the effects on other devices and saved network configuration.
A USB-C Ethernet adapter may provide temporary wired access while you download an applicable driver or compare wired and wireless connectivity. Treat it only as a workaround, not a Wi-Fi repair; compatibility of a specific adapter is not established here.

If the controller remains faulty after the reset and applicable updates, joystick input persists at reasonable dead-zone settings, or Wi-Fi still fails after the model-appropriate driver check and reboot, contact Lenovo product support. Provide the exact model, Windows version, symptoms, and steps already tried so support can assess whether the next step is software troubleshooting or service.
