If Kingdom Come: Deliverance II keeps crashing on PC, start by recording when it happens, checking your system against the game’s minimum requirements, and installing any available game update. If the crash continues, use your launcher’s built-in file repair option if available, then test only reversible changes that relate to the symptom. These checks can narrow down the cause, but PLAION’s official support information does not identify one fix that resolves every PC crash.
1. Pin down when KCD2 crashes
“Crashes on startup,” “crashes while loading,” and “crashes to desktop” describe different patterns. Note which one matches your problem and whether it happens consistently or at random.
- Before the main menu: Record whether the game closes immediately, shows an error, or stops responding.
- While loading a save: Note whether it affects one save or multiple saves, and whether the same point in the loading process triggers it.
- During play: Write down the location, action, or amount of time before the crash, if you can identify a pattern.
- Unpredictably: Note how often it happens and whether other demanding applications also crash.
Also record the storefront, game version, Windows version, CPU, GPU, and installed RAM. PLAION asks players to provide reproduction steps and how often an issue occurs when reporting a bug, so these details help make a report actionable.
2. Check your PC against the minimum requirements
Steam’s current listing, accessed in 2026, gives these requirements for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Treat them as a compatibility baseline, not a diagnosis: a PC that meets the minimum can still experience a crash, and these figures alone do not establish that hardware caused it.

Compare your actual CPU, graphics card, installed memory, Windows edition, free storage, and drive type with the minimum column. If your PC falls below a listed minimum, that is a compatibility concern worth including in a support report; it still does not prove the cause of a particular crash. The exact requirements come from Steam’s game listing.
3. Update the game and check its files
Install an available game update
Check for updates in the same platform you use to install the game. PLAION’s support hub lists Patch 1.5.6 as its newest entry at the time of the information reported here. The listed changes concern Steam Controller support, control-scheme behavior, credits, a Hardcore-mode interface issue, and quest issues; they do not identify a general PC-crash fix. Patch listings can change, so check the PLAION KCD II support hub for the current status.

Use your launcher’s built-in verification or repair
If Steam or another launcher used for your installation offers a built-in option to verify or repair game files, run it and let it finish before relaunching. This is a general integrity check for incomplete or damaged files, not a crash remedy confirmed specifically for every KCD II player. Follow the launcher’s own instructions; the official KCD II support pages do not promise that verification will resolve a crash.
4. Test settings only when they fit the symptom
PLAION’s Technical FAQ identifies CryEngine and support for DLSS 3.7.10 and PC FSR 3.1.0. It does not say that switching an upscaler or changing graphics settings fixes crashes. If a crash appears tied to a particular graphics option, you can test a change as a diagnostic experiment:

- If there is no clear improvement, restore the original value before trying another change.
Changing one variable at a time makes the result easier to interpret. Avoid broad, unsupported steps such as editing the registry, deleting arbitrary files, disabling security tools, rolling back drivers without a setup-specific reason, or buying replacement hardware based only on a crash. If the problem continues, submit a bug report through PLAION’s help center. Its instructions ask you to select the game and platform, choose “Report a Bug,” describe how to reproduce the issue and how often it occurs, list troubleshooting already attempted, and attach screenshots or video when useful. For a PC report, include both DxDiag and MsInfo files.
