If your phone and computer cannot see each other in KDE Connect, first open the app on both devices. Then check that they can communicate over the same local network, allow KDE Connect through the computer’s firewall, and try manual discovery. Reset configuration only if those checks fail. KDE’s pairing guidance says both devices should be on the same network and not blocked by a firewall: KDE Connect documentation.
1. Open KDE Connect on both devices
KDE Connect needs its phone app and desktop component running. Open KDE Connect on your phone and the KDE Connect interface on your computer, then give the devices a moment to appear in each other’s device lists. KDE’s pairing tip describes the basic flow: request pairing on either device and accept the prompt on the other. The example covers Android and KDE Plasma; controls may differ on iOS and Windows. KDE’s pairing tip.
- Open KDE Connect on the phone.
- Open KDE Connect on the computer.
- If the other device appears, select it and request pairing.
- Accept the pairing request on the other device.
If neither device appears in the other’s list, continue with the network checks before changing configuration.
2. Check that the network permits local device discovery
Put both devices on the same local network and check whether that network allows devices to communicate with one another. A guest Wi-Fi network, client isolation, or blocked UDP broadcast traffic can prevent automatic discovery even when both devices have internet access. KDE’s troubleshooting guidance specifically identifies blocked UDP broadcast packets as a possible cause. KDE Connect troubleshooting.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
- Confirm the phone and computer are connected to the same network, rather than one using a guest network or a different connection.
- If the router or access point has a client-isolation or guest-device setting, check whether it prevents local devices from communicating.
- If you are on a workplace, school, hotel, or public network, its administrator may restrict device-to-device traffic; changing KDE Connect settings will not override that network rule.
3. Allow KDE Connect through the computer’s firewall
KDE UserBase documents KDE Connect’s dynamic port range as 1714–1764 for both UDP and TCP. If the computer’s firewall is active, allow that range for both protocols in the appropriate network zone. The exact steps depend on the firewall software and your operating system; KDE’s documentation includes examples for UFW and firewalld. KDE Connect firewall guidance.
For firewalld, KDE cautions against using the public zone for KDE Connect. Choose a suitable trusted zone for your network and follow the documentation for your system rather than opening ports indiscriminately on public networks. KDE Connect firewall guidance.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
4. Try manual discovery if automatic discovery fails
If the network allows device-to-device communication but the devices still do not appear automatically, you can try adding the other device by its reachable IP address. On Android, KDE documents the option “Add devices by IP” on the app’s device screen. KDE desktop configuration also supports a customDevices list. KDE Connect manual discovery guidance.
- Find the other device’s IP address on its network connection settings.
- In the Android app’s device screen, choose “Add devices by IP” and enter the computer’s reachable address.
- If configuring discovery on the desktop, use KDE Connect’s
customDevicessetting with the reachable address. - Try pairing again and confirm that the address is reachable from the device where you entered it.
A manual address does not bypass a firewall or network isolation. If the devices cannot communicate over the local network, resolve that first.

5. Reset KDE Connect configuration only as a last resort
If the network and firewall are configured correctly and pairing still fails or crashes, KDE suggests stopping the KDE Connect daemon and moving ~/.config/kdeconnect aside so KDE Connect can start with clean configuration. Preserve the existing folder as a backup before doing this: resetting configuration may remove saved settings and pairings. KDE also notes that corrupted configuration can cause crashes during pairing. KDE Connect configuration troubleshooting.
- Stop the KDE Connect daemon using the method appropriate for your desktop and system.
- Move
~/.config/kdeconnectto a backup location instead of deleting it. - Start KDE Connect again and attempt pairing with the clean configuration.
- If the reset does not help, restore the backup folder to recover the previous configuration.
When the symptom is specific to iOS
KDE UserBase documents iOS limitations: notification synchronization is unavailable, and the connection cannot be kept alive while the app is off-screen. If KDE Connect disconnects when backgrounded on an iPhone or iPad, that behavior may reflect the documented platform limitation rather than a misconfigured firewall. Platform controls are not identical across Android, iOS, Windows, and KDE Plasma. KDE Connect platform notes.
