The right steps depend on the exact model: calibrate and adjust settings before attempting any switch removal, and replace a switch only if the manufacturer confirms that your keyboard supports it and the replacement is compatible.
Identify the symptom and your exact keyboard model
Note the keyboard’s full model name and which keys are affected. Describe what happens: the key misses a press, activates before you intend, repeats, or remains logically pressed after release. Procedures and software shortcuts differ between models, so find the official support page or manual for your keyboard before changing settings or removing a switch.
Update and calibrate using the manufacturer’s instructions
Use the maker’s supported driver or web configurator to check for firmware updates, then calibrate as directed for your model. Calibration procedures are not universal: follow the specified key presses, force, and confirmation steps rather than assuming one brand’s directions apply to another.
Akko models covered by its calibration guide
Akko advises updating firmware and recalibrating keys that behave inconsistently. In the Custom Actuation page, run calibration, press and release each key to its lowest point using regular, moderate force, then confirm. If keys still fail, Akko advises repeating calibration. Keychron magnetic keyboards
For a magnetic key that remains active, Keychron directs users to calibrate in Launcher. If the problem persists, increase Trigger Distance. Its support article was updated 2025-12-28: Keychron’s stuck-key instructions.
MCHOSE Ace 68
MCHOSE’s Ace 68 instructions call for updating M HUB and firmware, then running manual calibration in Trigger Settings. To calibrate an affected key, select it and press it vertically to the bottom until calibration completes. This procedure is specific to the Ace 68; the article was updated 2026-07-27: MCHOSE Ace 68 troubleshooting.

Adjust trigger sensitivity for repeats or unintended presses
If a key repeats, activates without a deliberate press, or seems too sensitive, try a modestly longer trigger distance or a less aggressive sensitivity setting in your keyboard’s supported software. Test one key at a time. Keychron recommends increasing Trigger Distance for a stuck-on key, while MCHOSE warns that extremely low Rapid Trigger values can increase accidental activation. Gateron also notes that very shallow actuation can improve responsiveness but may cause unintended inputs: Gateron’s Hall-effect tuning guidance.
There is no universal trigger-distance value established for Hall-effect keyboards. Choose a setting supported by your model and adjust it incrementally to balance responsiveness with reliable release and actuation.

Rule out magnetic interference and connection problems
Move possible magnetic sources away
If presses occur unexpectedly, move nearby magnetic or metal objects away and test again. MCHOSE lists nearby magnetic interference as one possible cause of activation problems for the Ace 68. It is a model-specific possibility, not evidence that a nearby magnet explains every inconsistent key.
Test the USB connection
If several keys or the whole keyboard behave intermittently, connect it directly to the computer rather than through a USB hub or docking station. If possible, try another supported cable and USB port, then check whether the issue also occurs on another computer. MCHOSE recommends avoiding hubs and docks; ASUS also recommends trying another port or computer for connection problems. These checks can help isolate a connection issue but do not establish that USB is the cause: ASUS external-keyboard troubleshooting.

Inspect or replace a switch only when your model supports it
Switch removal is a later, model-specific step—not a general Hall-effect keyboard fix. For the Ace 68, MCHOSE instructs users to remove the affected switch with the included puller, inspect it for damage or debris, and try an included spare if needed. Do not assume another keyboard has the same removable-switch design.
Before buying a replacement, confirm that the exact keyboard is user-serviceable and that the switch works with its Hall-sensing PCB, magnetic configuration, and firmware. Similar mounting formats do not guarantee compatible magnetic signals, according to Gateron’s compatibility guidance. Recalibrate after a switch change if your manufacturer provides that procedure. ASUS specifies calibration after magnetic-switch replacement for the ROG Falcata M703 and ROG Azoth 96 HE M901; that instruction should not be generalized to other models: ASUS’s guidance.

Choose the next step based on the failure

Contact support with evidence
If official calibration and basic checks do not resolve the issue, send the manufacturer details that can distinguish a settings problem from a connection or switch fault:
- Exact keyboard model and affected keys
- What each key does: misses, triggers early, repeats, or remains active
- Firmware version and trigger settings
- Whether calibration completed and what changed
- Results from direct connection, another cable or port, or another computer
- Any manufacturer-approved switch test you performed
For its documented magnetic stuck-key case, Keychron advises selecting the defective keys, opening Trigger Demo, recording the issue, and sending the video to support. Follow your own manufacturer’s submission instructions if they differ.
