If aiming in Gears of War: E-Day feels too slow, too fast, or inconsistent, first identify when it happens: while looking around, aiming at a target, or using a scope. The game has separate horizontal and vertical sensitivity controls for each state, so adjusting the matching control is a better first step than changing every slider. Controller players can also test Aim Acceleration and stick dead zones separately.
This guide reflects the game’s announced early-access period as of October 4, 2026. Xbox says early access began October 1, with worldwide launch scheduled for October 6; check Gears of War support and the Xbox service-status page for current information if you are playing later. Xbox Wire’s launch announcement provides those dates and support links.
Identify which kind of aiming feels wrong
Before changing settings, repeat the movement that feels off and note the state you are in. Does the camera turn too slowly when you are not aiming, does movement feel wrong while targeting, or does the problem occur only through a scope? Also check whether the horizontal axis, vertical axis, or both are affected.
The Coalition’s Accessibility in Gears of War: E-Day guide lists separate Horizontal and Vertical controls for Look, Target, and Scope Sensitivity. It does not publish a universal recommended value, so use small changes and judge them in the same situation.

Adjust the sensitivity that matches the aiming state
- Looking around: Change Horizontal Look Sensitivity or Vertical Look Sensitivity if ordinary camera movement is the problem.
- Aiming at a target: Change the matching Horizontal or Vertical Target Sensitivity if movement feels wrong while aiming down sights.
- Using a scope: Change Horizontal or Vertical Scope Sensitivity if the problem is limited to scoped aiming.
Test one axis and one aiming state at a time. For example, if normal looking feels comfortable but scope movement is slow, leave Look Sensitivity alone and make a modest adjustment to the relevant Scope control. This keeps a useful setting from being changed while you diagnose another.
Troubleshoot controller acceleration and dead zones
If you use a controller, Aim Acceleration and the stick dead-zone controls are separate variables from Look, Target, and Scope Sensitivity. Aim Acceleration affects how aiming responds as stick input changes; dead zones affect how much stick movement is needed before input registers, with inner and outer controls listed in the support guide.

- Reproduce the same aiming movement with your current settings.
- Change only Aim Acceleration, then repeat that movement.
- If the issue remains, restore or note that value and test the relevant inner or outer dead zone separately.
- Keep the change only if it improves the same movement without making another aiming state harder to control.
The official guide defines these settings but does not endorse a best acceleration or dead-zone number. There is no source-backed universal preset to apply.
Check mouse settings before treating inconsistent aim as a bug
Mouse users can start with the same state-based diagnosis: check the separate Look, Target, and Scope controls, then test horizontal and vertical movement independently. Individual PC beta-feedback posts described aim that felt inconsistent between slow and fast movements; another reported camera movement seeming to retain ADS sensitivity briefly after leaving ADS. These are player reports, not an official diagnosis or confirmation that either behavior persists in the early-access build. If the same issue repeats after checking the relevant controls, record the input device, game mode, weapon, aiming state, and steps that reproduce it, then send that information through official Gears of War support. A repeatable description is more useful than changing multiple controls at once.
Account for projectile travel when shots miss at range
A shot that misses a moving target at distance is not automatically evidence of a sensitivity problem. The Coalition says, “All projectiles now have simulated ballistics and travel time.” Its gameplay update explains that shooting outside a weapon’s range may require leading the target. If your aim feels controlled but shots fall behind a moving enemy, try accounting for travel time before changing sensitivity.

Review Campaign consequences before changing gameplay options
Some Campaign gameplay-option changes alter the current difficulty tier, according to the Coalition’s gameplay update. Before confirming a customization, read the consequence displayed in game; a change made to address one gameplay preference may also affect the campaign difficulty.
What settings can—and cannot—tell you
The official documentation establishes which sensitivity and controller controls are available, but it does not identify the cause of an individual player’s issue or provide a best numerical setup. Likewise, the cited beta complaints do not prove a current defect or a confirmed fix. Use the controls to isolate the symptom, and escalate a repeatable issue through official support rather than assuming a particular setting or hardware purchase will resolve it.
