Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If Feedback frequency is stuck on Automatic after the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, first check whether your PC is managed by an organization. Microsoft says some diagnostic settings may be unavailable on managed devices. The historical report that described this specific Windows 10 version 1803 symptom does not establish a universal patch or repair.
What Feedback frequency controls
In Windows 10, open Start > Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback. The Feedback frequency control determines how often Windows asks you for a rating or written feedback, as Microsoft Support explains. It is separate from the Diagnostic data setting, which governs diagnostic information sent to Microsoft; changing Feedback frequency does not itself change the diagnostic-data level.
Try the setting and check why it is unavailable
- Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback.
- Find Feedback frequency. If it is available, choose the option you prefer.
- If it is disabled or fixed at Automatic, note the exact message displayed. Check whether your employer, school, or another organization manages the PC. Microsoft’s guidance notes that some settings may be hidden or unavailable on organization-managed devices.
- If the device is managed, contact its IT administrator to ask whether the setting is controlled by organizational policy. If it is not managed, or the message remains unexplained, use Get Help or Microsoft Support for guided troubleshooting.
Do not assume that changing Diagnostic data will unlock Feedback frequency: they control different things.
What the Windows 10 version 1803 report establishes
A May 2018 user post described Feedback frequency stuck on “automatic” and displayed the message “Windows Insider Programme Manages This Option.” The poster later edited the post to say the setting appeared fixed after build 17134.112. This is one user’s account, not a Microsoft-confirmed diagnosis, incident notice, or proof that the build fixes the issue for everyone. The report is available in the Microsoft Answers thread.
#1 Best Overall
Because the report does not establish a verified universal repair, do not treat installing a particular update or changing the registry as a guaranteed fix. If you want to report the behavior, use Feedback Hub to submit a bug report or find and upvote an existing one. For help resolving the issue on your PC, use Get Help or Microsoft Support instead.
Version 1803 and Windows 10 support status
Windows 10 version 1803 is a legacy release. Microsoft stated that Windows 10 version 1803 Home and Pro reached end of service in April 2020. Separately, free updates, technical assistance, and security fixes for Windows 10 ended on October 14, 2025. See Microsoft’s version 1803 lifecycle notice and Windows 10 end-of-support guidance. An old report or workaround for 1803 should not be treated as current support advice.
