1. Find the software for your exact Epson model
Epson’s scanner drivers and utilities are model-specific. Open Epson’s official Support page, search for the exact model shown on the scanner label, and check which scanner driver and scanning utility Epson lists for Windows 11. Do not assume a package for a similar-looking model is compatible; check the model page for current operating-system compatibility notes.
If Windows was upgraded and the scanner software was not reinstalled, install the relevant software for the model. Avoid keeping multiple versions of Epson Scan 2 installed.
2. Check power and the physical connection
Make sure the scanner is powered on and both ends of its cable are secure. If it is connected through a USB hub, disconnect the hub and connect the scanner directly to the computer. If the PC is asleep or in standby, wake it and restart Epson Scan 2 before testing again.

3. Select and reset the scanner connection in Epson Scan 2 Utility
- Search Windows for Epson Scan 2 Utility and open it.
- Confirm that the intended Epson product is selected.
- If the scanner still will not connect, open Other and choose Reset.
- Close and reopen Epson Scan 2, then test the scanner.
This utility can help when Epson Scan 2 has the wrong scanner selected or its connection settings need to be reset.
4. Troubleshoot network scanning
For a network-connected scanner, check that the scanner is configured for network scanning and that Epson Scan 2 can communicate with it. Check the assigned job in Epson Event Manager if the scan is being started from the scanner’s control panel.

If a large original or high-resolution scan causes a network communication error, try scanning at a lower resolution. If communication fails while Epson Scan 2 is starting, close and restart the application. If it still will not start, power-cycle the scanner and try again.
5. Check Epson Event Manager for scanner-button problems
Epson Event Manager activates control-panel scanning and assigns the job that runs when you press a scanner button. The scanner utility must also be installed.

- Search Windows 11 for Epson Event Manager and open it.
- Select the Epson scanner if the application asks you to choose one.
- Review the assigned job and change its settings if needed.
- Test scanning from Epson Scan 2 as well as from the scanner button.
6. Reset settings, then reinstall the scanner driver if needed
If the connection, scanner selection, network communication, and Event Manager checks do not solve the problem, initialize Epson Scan 2 settings in its utility. If the scanner still does not work, uninstall and reinstall the scanner driver listed for the exact model on Epson Support. Follow Epson’s model-specific installation instructions.

How do I get Windows 11 to recognize my Epson scanner?
Make sure the scanner is powered on and connected directly to the computer if it uses USB. Install the scanner driver and utility for the exact model, then open Epson Scan 2 Utility and select the scanner. If necessary, choose Other > Reset.
Why does my Epson scan fail over the network?
Network communication may be interrupted, or a large original scanned at high resolution may trigger an error. Restart Epson Scan 2, power-cycle the scanner if needed, and try a lower resolution.

Why does the button on my Epson scanner do nothing?
Control-panel scanning depends on Epson Event Manager and its assigned job settings. Open Event Manager, select the scanner, and review the job. Also confirm that the scanner utility is installed.
When should I reinstall my Epson scanner driver?
Try the simpler connection, selection, reset, network, and Event Manager checks first. If initializing Epson Scan 2 settings does not solve the problem, uninstall and reinstall the scanner driver listed for your exact model.
