Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFix UV-print defects by identifying the symptom before changing settings: run a nozzle test for banding or uneven color, test adhesion with a cross-hatch and tape, and check approved media and curing conditions if ink appears under-cured. Calibration, cleaning, and UV exposure procedures vary by printer, so use the instructions for your exact model.
Start with a diagnostic print, not a settings change
Several faults can look alike. A nozzle test can expose missing or deflected nozzles; a defect that appears only on one media batch points toward substrate or preparation; and broad peeling in a tape test indicates an adhesion problem. Note whether the defect affects one ink color, including white, and whether its pattern follows the media-feed or carriage direction.
Use the manufacturer’s operation manual and support guidance for your printer, inkset, media, and firmware before changing calibration, cleaning, or curing settings. The troubleshooting categories below reflect manufacturer guidance, not a replacement for a model-specific service procedure.
How to fix horizontal banding
1. Check nozzle firing
Print the printer’s nozzle or test pattern and inspect it for missing or deflected lines. If it is abnormal, follow the manufacturer’s maintenance sequence for that model and print the test again. Mimaki’s troubleshooting guidance uses staged cleaning and advises contacting support if nozzle dropout or deflection remains unresolved; avoid repeated aggressive cleaning without model-specific instructions. See Mimaki’s troubleshooting FAQs.

2. Check feed and alignment only if the nozzle test is sound
With normal nozzle firing, consult your model’s banding, media-feed calibration, and bidirectional alignment guidance. Roland’s VersaUV LEF2-300 support resources identify media-feed calibration as a test relevant to removing banding, and Roland provides model-specific test-print and alignment information. Those adjustments are not interchangeable across printers. See Roland VersaUV LEF2-300 support.
3. Confirm job and media setup
Check that the selected media, print mode, and profile match the job. If banding follows a particular material or batch, test a consistent, printer-supported digital-grade material before changing machine settings. MUTOH recommends consistent material properties, surface preparation, and adhesion testing before a production run (MUTOH’s material guidance).

How to fix poor adhesion or peeling
1. Confirm substrate suitability and preparation
UV ink sits on the media surface, and adhesion depends on the printer, ink, substrate, and its preparation. Confirm the material is supported for your inkset, then make sure its surface is clean and prepared as specified. Roland notes that UV ink may crack or peel depending on the device, ink, and media; Mimaki likewise identifies surface type and pretreatment as important factors (Roland’s UV ink adhesion guide; Mimaki’s FAQ).
2. Run a cross-hatch and tape test
- On a test print, use a box knife or similar suitable cutter to make a cross-hatch pattern through the ink to the substrate.
- Press packing tape firmly over the cuts.
- Pull the tape away quickly and inspect the print. The desired result is ink removed only inside the cuts; broad lifting indicates a failed adhesion test.
A dedicated cross-hatch adhesion test kit is optional; a box knife can make the pattern. Roland describes this test and its interpretation in its adhesion-testing guide.

- 【High-Quality Images】Our UV DTF inks offer the advantage of producing high-quality images that are sharper and more vibrant, this is one of the most important considerations. Moreover, the colors stay vibrant and striking as well since UV DTF inks don't have components that evaporate, retaining 100% of the inks' deposits.
- 【Packing list】6 bottle 500ML UV DTF ink (CMKYWV); The colors are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, White, and Varnish Ink Digital Direct To Film Transfer Ink for Water-based Printhead.
- 【Compatible Printer】For i3200 L805 1390 DX4 DX5 DX6 DX7 DX10 TX800 XP600 Printhead and more UV DTF Printer.
- 【Application Materials】Wood, Chrome paper, PC, PET, PVC, ABS, Acrylic, Plastic, Leather, Rubber, Film, Disks, Glass, ceramic, Metal, Photo paper, Stone material, etc.
- 【Excellent Productivity】Since UV DTF inks cure almost instantly when exposed to UV light, projects are finished much faster and almost immediately after printing. This can allow businesses to produce higher volumes of prints compared to using conventional inks.UV DTF ink is widely used in various industries, such as packaging, labeling, signage, automotive, electronics, and promotional products.
3. Consider a compatible primer only after a failed test
If ink lifts broadly, investigate surface preparation and material compatibility first. An adhesion promoter or primer may help, but it is not universal: verify it is compatible with the exact printer, ink, and substrate. Roland names SEM Products and Marabu as suppliers for different media types and notes that some Roland inksets offer an onboard adhesion-promoter option; that does not establish compatibility for other systems.
How to fix uneven color
1. Rule out nozzle problems
Start with a nozzle test. Missing or deflected nozzles can affect color; follow the printer maker’s maintenance steps and retest. If the printer uses white ink, consult its separate white-ink maintenance guidance because handling and maintenance can differ. Mimaki’s routine white-ink instructions apply to its equipment, not automatically to other brands (Mimaki troubleshooting FAQs).

2. Verify media, mode, and calibration
Check that the media setting, print mode or profile, and calibration suit the job. If the problem persists with normal nozzle firing, use the manufacturer’s color-variation guidance for the exact model; Roland, for example, lists separate banding and color-variation resources in its VersaUV support materials.
3. Inspect flatbed setup where applicable
On a flatbed printer, check that the material lies flat and the jig is positioned and configured as directed by the manual. The Mimaki UJF-7151plus-series manual warns that reflective jig colors and unsuitable jig setup can contribute to stray UV reflections, nozzle malfunctions, uneven color, or inconsistent curing. This caution is specific to that machine context; do not assume every flatbed printer uses the same restrictions (Mimaki operation manuals).

What to check when ink appears under-cured
Confirm that the printer and media are being used within their stated operating conditions. Inspect UV lamp glass for contamination and clean it only by the manufacturer’s procedure. Mimaki’s FAQ says low temperature may prevent UV ink from hardening and adhering optimally, dirty lamp glass can reduce irradiation, and additional UV irradiation may be required. Its cited guidance recommends an environment of 25°C–30°C; check the instructions for your specific printer and media before using that range as a setting. Do not increase exposure or change lamp settings without an approved procedure (Mimaki FAQ: “UV ink is not adhered to the substrates”).
Quick Recap
Choose the next check based on the evidence
