If Photoshop will not install or Creative Cloud keeps asking you to sign in, start with the Creative Cloud desktop app: check the network and security blocks, then restart or update the app. Move on to repair or reinstall only when those basic checks fail. Use the exact error code to find the right Adobe fix, and leave advanced cleanup and credential changes until you have followed Adobe’s instructions for your operating system.
First identify what is failing
Photoshop installation and sign-in are managed through the Creative Cloud desktop app, so distinguish an app problem from a Photoshop problem before changing settings. Note the exact error message or code and when it appears. Also record whether anything changed shortly before the problem began, such as a network, security-software, Creative Cloud, or operating-system update.
- Photoshop will not install or the installer stalls: check connectivity and security or network restrictions first.
- Creative Cloud desktop will not install or open: follow the desktop app’s repair or reinstall path.
- You cannot sign in: restart and update Creative Cloud, then check whether the network allows Adobe server access.
- Creative Cloud repeatedly asks you to sign in: investigate the operating-system-specific credential, service, or certificate causes below.
Fix a stalled Photoshop installation
Check the connection and network restrictions
Adobe identifies weak connectivity, antivirus software, software firewalls, and organizational firewalls or proxies as possible installation blockers. Confirm that the connection is stable and that Creative Cloud can reach Adobe. If Wi-Fi is unreliable, Adobe suggests trying a wired connection. On a work or school network, ask IT to check proxy and firewall rules rather than trying to bypass them yourself. See Adobe’s stuck-installation guidance.
If you suspect security software is interfering, use the security vendor’s instructions for a temporary diagnostic check and restore protection afterward. Do not leave antivirus or a firewall disabled.

Restart Creative Cloud desktop
If the desktop app is unresponsive, quit it fully and reopen it. Then retry the installation from Creative Cloud. This is a lower-risk step than removing application files or credentials.
Repair, then reinstall the desktop app
If the installer remains stuck or installation records appear damaged, use Adobe’s repair option for the Creative Cloud desktop app, then sign in and retry. If repair does not work, uninstall and reinstall the desktop app using Adobe’s instructions. Adobe also recommends reinstalling for certain desktop-app installation errors; the appropriate steps depend on the displayed error. Start with the stuck-installer article or the Creative Cloud desktop installation-failure article.

Fix Creative Cloud desktop installation failures
When Creative Cloud desktop itself fails to install, restarting the Photoshop installer is unlikely to address the underlying problem. Follow Adobe’s specific instructions for the error shown, and try a normal uninstall and reinstall of the desktop app when directed.
Use the Cleaner Tool only as an advanced step
If a normal reinstall does not resolve corruption, Adobe offers the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool as an advanced clean-install option. Adobe describes it as intended for advanced users. Follow the tool’s instructions carefully and do not treat cleanup as the first troubleshooting step. See Adobe’s desktop installation-failure guidance.

Fix sign-in failures and repeated prompts
If sign-in fails once or Creative Cloud is unresponsive
Quit and reopen Creative Cloud desktop if it is stuck. Check that your network permits access to Adobe servers, then update the desktop app and try again. Adobe’s current sign-in guidance is at Creative Cloud sign-in issues and solutions.
If Creative Cloud keeps asking you to sign in
Repeated prompts can have different causes, so match the check to your system instead of deleting credentials or certificates at random. Adobe identifies antivirus interference with stored license credentials, a damaged Creative Cloud desktop app, and operating-system-specific credential or service issues. Follow the detailed steps in Adobe’s repeated sign-in prompt guide.

Windows checks
- Antivirus software may block or remove Adobe license credentials stored in Windows Credential Manager. Check the security software’s handling of Adobe credentials before making changes to stored entries.
- Adobe’s guidance also calls out the Credential Manager service and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Use Adobe’s Windows-specific instructions to check these services; do not make unrelated service or registry changes.
macOS checks
- Antivirus software may interfere with Adobe license credentials stored in Keychain Access.
- Adobe’s troubleshooting guidance also discusses Adobe-related certificates in Keychain Access. Do not delete certificates or credentials unless you are following Adobe’s steps and understand the effect.
Use the exact error code and installation logs
For error A12E1
Use Adobe’s ordered, error-specific fixes if the installer displays A12E1. Adobe notes that Creative Cloud cannot be installed on an HFS+ case-sensitive macOS drive, so check the drive format when troubleshooting this code on a Mac. Follow Adobe’s A12E1 instructions rather than applying generic installer fixes.
For a failure that persists without a clear fix
Installation logs can help locate the stage where the process failed. Adobe identifies dlm.log for download errors, PDapp.log for early installation errors, and product installation logs for later failures. Log locations and interpretation vary by platform and failure type, so use Adobe’s log-file troubleshooting guide instead of guessing from an isolated log line.
