For most Nothing Headphone (1) Bluetooth problems, start by unplugging any audio cable, checking volume on both the source device and headphones, then pairing again. A USB-C or 3.5 mm cable takes priority over Bluetooth and disconnects it by design. Save a factory reset for problems that persist after these checks.
Check the audio path and volume first
If you are troubleshooting Bluetooth, disconnect any USB-C audio or 3.5 mm Aux-In cable. Nothing Headphone (1) automatically disconnects Bluetooth when it detects either wired connection; Nothing says Bluetooth reconnection is triggered after the cable is removed. A wired connection taking over is expected behavior, not a Bluetooth fault.
Raise the volume on your phone or computer and adjust the headphone roller. If you are using the 3.5 mm Aux-In connection, its lack of microphone input is also expected: it does not carry microphone audio, so a missing mic during an Aux-In call does not indicate a Bluetooth problem.
Pair Nothing Headphone (1) manually
- Turn on the headphones and open Bluetooth settings on your phone, computer, or other host device.
- Hold the Bluetooth pairing button on the headphones for two seconds, until the white LED blinks.
- Select Nothing Headphone (1) in the host device’s Bluetooth list. Menu labels can vary by device.
If you have paired the headphones with multiple devices, try the device you connected most recently first. Nothing says reconnection favors the last-connected device. It attempts to reconnect for one minute; if that fails, pairing mode remains available for two minutes. If that pairing window has passed, hold the pairing button until the white LED flashes, then select the headphones from the device’s Bluetooth list again. Nothing’s reconnection instructions describe this timing.

Rule out dual-device routing
Nothing Headphone (1) supports dual connection, but it is off by default. If you have enabled it in the Nothing X app, temporarily disconnect the second device or switch dual connection off while diagnosing.
With two devices connected, incoming calls, which device starts music, and whether a call or music session is active can affect where audio plays and how reconnection behaves. Those changes can be normal routing behavior rather than a failed Bluetooth connection. Nothing explains the feature and its routing conditions in its dual-connection guide.

Troubleshoot poor, distorted, or missing audio
If there is no sound
- Confirm that audio is playing through the intended Bluetooth or wired connection.
- Check the host device’s volume and the headphone roller.
- Try another player or audio source to see whether the problem is limited to one app or file.
If sound is static or distorted
Disable EQ in the music player, as Nothing recommends for static or distortion. If the audio is clear but does not sound the way you prefer, try a preset or adjust the equalizer in the Nothing X app instead. Nothing’s Headphone (1) sound-issue guidance covers these checks.
Compare with wired audio
If Bluetooth audio still seems faulty, try supported USB-C audio or a 3.5 mm connection as a comparison. This can help determine whether the issue is limited to the wireless path. Unplug the cable before testing Bluetooth again, since wired audio takes priority and disconnects Bluetooth. Nothing lists the wired options in its Headphone (1) features guide.

Factory-reset only if the problem persists
A factory reset restores the headphones to their factory settings, so you will need to pair them with your device again.
- Press and hold the pairing button for ten seconds.
- Check for three red flashes followed by a flashing white light; Nothing identifies this sequence as confirmation that the reset succeeded.
- Pair the headphones again from your host device’s Bluetooth settings.
Afterward, if the problem continues, Nothing recommends updating the firmware through the Nothing X app. Its support instructions do not state a current firmware version or guarantee that an update will fix every connection issue. See Nothing’s reset instructions and reconnection guidance.
