If your Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless headphones will not pair, first check that they are switched on and that both the headphones and your phone, computer, or other source device are in pairing mode. For a first setup, the headphones enter pairing mode automatically when switched on; to add a second device, hold the power button for five seconds until you hear an audio prompt. If a connection keeps dropping, try disabling HiRes or Lossless audio in the app when you are in a crowded wireless environment.
Pair the MOMENTUM 5 for the first time
- Press the headphone button once to switch on the headphones. On first startup, they automatically enter pairing mode.
- Open the Bluetooth settings on your phone, computer, or other source device and search for new devices.
- Select MOMENTUM 5 Wireless from the available devices and follow any on-screen prompt.

Add or connect a second device
- Hold the headphones’ power button for five seconds, until you hear an audio prompt.
- On the second phone or computer, open Bluetooth settings, search for devices, and select MOMENTUM 5 Wireless.
The headphones support multipoint for two devices by default. They can switch audio automatically based on active playback, notifications, or calls. In the specific case of switching manually while paired with a Windows PC, Sennheiser says to use Smart Control Plus on a phone. See the MOMENTUM 5 troubleshooting FAQ for the multipoint guidance.
If the headphones do not appear or pairing fails
- Check pairing mode on both devices. Make sure the headphones and the source device are each in pairing mode; searching on the phone or computer alone is not enough.
- Remove an old connection record. If this source device was paired with the headphones before, use its Bluetooth settings to forget or remove the MOMENTUM 5 entry, then try pairing again. The exact menu labels and steps vary by operating system.
- Retry discovery. After removing the old record, return to the source device’s Bluetooth menu and search for new devices again.
Sennheiser’s troubleshooting FAQ recommends confirming pairing mode on both devices and removing a previous source-device pairing before retrying.

If the Bluetooth connection keeps dropping
In a crowded wireless environment, Sennheiser recommends turning off HiRes or Lossless audio in the app to reduce interference from other Bluetooth devices. This is a targeted step for that setting, not a guarantee that every connection drop is caused by interference or will be resolved by changing audio quality.

Check that the headphones are actually on
MOMENTUM 5 does not turn on automatically, unlike MOMENTUM 4. Switch it on manually before troubleshooting Bluetooth. The headphones also automatically power off after 15 minutes of inactivity; after that, you must switch them on manually again. Sennheiser describes these behaviors in its troubleshooting FAQ and during-use guidance.

Re-pairing, a routine headphone reset, deleting saved pairings, and restoring factory defaults are different actions. Try the less disruptive source-device steps above before using an option that changes saved headphone settings.

Sennheiser’s manual and troubleshooting FAQ describe reset actions differently, including different button labels and shorthand descriptions. For deleting pairings or restoring factory defaults, use the clearly labeled functions in Smart Control Plus rather than inferring that a long button hold performs either action.
