Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFirst identify whether the game is missing from your library, stalled in the download queue, downloading slowly, stuck at 0% during a disc install, or blocked by a compatibility message. Those are different problems, and Xbox Support provides separate guidance for installation, slow downloads, and disc installs that stop at zero.
Start by identifying what is stuck
Before changing settings, note what you see on the console:
- The game is not listed: Check whether it is available to install from your library.
- The game appears in the queue but does not advance: This is a stalled installation or download.
- The download advances unusually slowly: Use the slow-download troubleshooting path.
- A disc install remains at 0%: Use the specific disc-installation guidance rather than digital-download advice.
- An error or compatibility message appears: Follow the message-specific route below and record any error code.
Xbox Support has separate pages for Xbox One installation problems, slow Xbox One downloads, and disc installations that stop at zero. Their detailed steps may depend on the console and symptom, so use the page that matches your case.
If the game is missing from your library
Check Ready to install on Xbox One
On Xbox One, open My games & apps > Ready to install. Microsoft recommends this check when a game or app cannot be found on the console. If the title is listed there, select it to begin installing.
#1 Best Overall
- From the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption
- The deepest and most complex world Rockstar Games has ever created. 4K Ultra HD not available on Xbox One or Xbox One S consoles
- Covers a huge range of 19th century American landscapes
- Play as Arthur Morgan, lead enforcer in the notorious Van der Linde gang
- Interact with every character in the world with more than just your gun
If it is not listed, avoid assuming that a stalled download is the cause: the issue is that the game is not visible as ready to install. Check the account and purchase or access method associated with the title, then use Xbox Support troubleshooting for console installation help.
If the console reports a compatibility problem
Check the game’s Microsoft Store listing for a compatible version, as Microsoft advises when a compatibility error appears. Do not assume that every Xbox game works on every Xbox console; compatibility depends on the specific title and console.

If a digital download is stalled or unusually slow
Use the official page that matches the symptom: installation problems if the queue has stopped, or slow downloads if it is progressing but taking unusually long. These Xbox One-specific pages have distinct scopes; follow their current instructions for your console and situation instead of applying disc-install steps to a digital download.
If a disc installation is stuck at 0%
Use the dedicated Xbox Support guide for disc installation stopping at zero. This is a disc-install symptom, not the same as a digital download stuck in the queue. The support guidance is specific to the reported case, so do not substitute generic download fixes for it.

What to have ready if you contact Xbox Support
Microsoft directs people with Xbox console game or app installation problems to Xbox Support. To make the issue easier to identify, have these details available:
- Your console model or generation (Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S).
- The game title and whether you are installing from a digital download or disc.
- What the queue shows, including whether progress is absent, slow, or stopped.
- The exact wording of any message and its error code, if shown.
Xbox One troubleshooting pages are not confirmation of the current steps for Xbox Series X|S. For either generation, use the current Microsoft Support guidance for finding games and apps and the relevant Xbox Support page for your console and error.
