If that does not work, check PlayStation Network status, system software, and available storage, then follow the instructions for the exact error code on screen. The right fix depends on whether the problem is the queue, storage, network, or access to the game.
1. Restart the download or installation
- Open the Control Centre and select Downloads/Uploads.
- Select the stalled game and choose Pause, then Resume.
- If it still will not progress, cancel and delete the item from the queue. Open Game Library, find the game, and try downloading it again.
For a specific error code, check PlayStation’s PS5 error-code list before trying more involved fixes; the same symptom can have different causes.
2. Check PlayStation service status and system software
Check PlayStation Network service status. If there is an alert affecting downloads or related services, wait for service to recover and retry.
To check for a system software update, go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings. Follow any available update prompts, then try the download again.

3. Check storage space
Go to Settings > Storage and check the free space on the intended destination. PlayStation identifies CE-107872-5 as an insufficient console-storage error; its guidance warns that installation may need approximately twice the free space required. See PlayStation’s CE-107872-5 guidance.
- If space is low, delete games or other content you no longer need, or move eligible games to extended storage, then retry.
- If enough space appears to be available already, check the selected save destination or try another supported storage destination.
An M.2 SSD can expand game and app storage, but it is optional and only addresses a storage shortage. Before buying one, check the requirements for your exact PS5 model in PlayStation’s M.2 SSD installation guide.
4. Troubleshoot a connection-related error
For CE-107928-7, PlayStation’s code-specific guidance says to delete the game and retry before moving on to network checks. If the download still fails, follow the steps on the CE-107928-7 support page.

- Test the connection at Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection.
- If needed, reset the console’s network settings. Turn off the modem or router, wait five minutes, and turn it back on.
- Retry the download. Do not turn off the console while it is downloading.
5. Restore licenses if the game is locked or missing
If the game appears locked or you cannot locate content you own, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses, then select the relevant title if prompted. PlayStation says restoring licenses does not affect your data. Details are on its restore licenses support page.
If a different account owns the game, check that the owner has enabled Console Sharing and Offline Play on this PS5. The setting’s availability and wording can vary by account region; PlayStation’s Canada support page explains the feature.
6. Use Safe Mode only when the error calls for it
Do not start with database rebuilding or reinstalling for every stalled download. These are more involved steps, and PlayStation recommends them for particular errors.

For CE-120706-6
PlayStation’s CE-120706-6 instructions call for restoring licenses and restarting first. If the problem remains, start the PS5 in Safe Mode and choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database > Rebuild Database. If that still does not resolve it, delete and reinstall the game.
For other codes
Use the instructions for the exact code shown, rather than applying the CE-120706-6 steps to a different error. PlayStation’s error index includes separate entries for download interruption, insufficient storage, installation or update failures, network/server connections, licenses, and system software.
7. Contact PlayStation Support if the problem continues
If the applicable steps do not resolve the issue, contact PlayStation Support. Include the exact error code and message, plus what you tried; this helps direct the problem to the relevant troubleshooting path.
