A missing quest marker in Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not necessarily mean the quest is broken. Capcom says some quests have no map marker, and markers may appear or disappear as time passes. Work through the quest’s current instructions and pawn clues first; if those do not help, the game offers paid hints.

What to do when a quest marker is missing

  1. Prioritize the quest. Open Pause Menu > Quest, select the relevant quest, and set it as the priority. Capcom says this is also required to get a hint from the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine. Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 FAQ
  2. Read the current objective and earlier quest instructions. Look for a person, place, item, or condition mentioned in the quest entry. Re-read earlier instructions if the current objective is vague: a marker may not appear, and reaching a marked place may not be enough to advance the quest.
  3. Check the quest list for pawn guidance. A blue marker indicates that your Main Pawn may guide you; orange I and II markers indicate that the first or second support pawn may have useful information or lead you to the objective. Follow the pawn’s guidance if offered.
  4. Revisit the relevant area after meeting the requirements. If a marker is shown but nothing happens, check whether the quest entry describes a prerequisite. Capcom notes that you may need to meet certain requirements before reaching the marker for the quest to progress.
  5. Look for involved NPCs at different times. Characters may move between locations tied to the quest or appear only at certain times of day. Check the relevant places again at another time rather than assuming an NPC has vanished permanently.
  6. Get an in-game hint if you are still stuck. With the quest prioritized, visit the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine and pay for a hint. The hint is an optional paid step; try the quest entry and pawn clues first.

When a character involved in the quest is missing

NPCs can change location or schedule, so search the places relevant to the quest at different times. If the person may have died, Capcom names the Vermund Charnel House and Battahl Morgue as places to check. Whether that resolves the quest depends on the specific character and quest stage.

Account for quests that advance over time

Some quests progress even when you are not actively working on them. Capcom’s official manual warns that keeping several quests in progress can make it harder to act in time; this warning applies to some quests, not every quest. If an objective seems urgent, focus on it instead of assuming it will wait while you pursue other tasks. Capcom’s official game manual

What a missing marker does—and does not—tell you

Marker behavior varies by quest and can change over time. Its absence alone does not establish that you have encountered a bug, and a map marker does not guarantee that the next step will be obvious or immediately available. If the in-game clues and paid hint do not identify the next action, use a quest-specific guide keyed to the exact quest and stage rather than expecting one route to work for every objective.
