If your Samsung remote is missing, check the usual hiding places first. Samsung’s support instructions do not document a way to ring or map-locate a standard TV remote. If SmartThings is already set up and your TV supports it, your phone may work as a temporary remote; otherwise, identify the TV model before looking for a replacement.
Look for the physical remote first
Check sofa cushions, under blankets and furniture, beside the TV, and wherever you last used it. These are practical places to search, not a Samsung tracking feature.
Use your phone as a remote with SmartThings
If your TV is already in SmartThings
- Open the SmartThings app.
- Tap Menu, then All devices.
- Select your TV and look for the on-screen remote controls.
Samsung Canada’s instructions describe this app-based control path, but the available controls can vary by TV: Samsung Canada: Use SmartThings as a remote control.
If you need to connect the TV first
Samsung US says the phone and TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi network and signed in to the same Samsung account to connect the TV to SmartThings. Setup and support can differ by model and region. Samsung Australia also provides its own device and app guidance, so check local support for your set: Samsung US: Connect a TV to SmartThings and Samsung Australia: Use SmartThings as a remote control.

Samsung India describes a separate Mobile Remote feature for select 2025-or-later TVs, requiring Android 11 or later or iOS 16 or later and the SmartThings app. That guidance is specific to eligible models and that regional support page; it should not be assumed to apply to every Samsung TV: Samsung India: Mobile Remote in SmartThings.
If the TV is not listed, is unsupported, or cannot be reached under the applicable setup conditions, the phone option may not be available. Samsung’s SmartThings Find and Samsung Find materials concern Galaxy devices; they do not establish that a conventional TV remote can be tracked.

Use the TV’s physical controls temporarily
Some Samsung TVs provide physical controls, but Samsung’s reviewed guidance does not establish a universal button location or operation for every model. Check your TV’s model-specific manual or support page rather than assuming the controls are in a particular place.
Choose a replacement by TV model
If the remote is lost for good, find the TV’s model number and use Samsung’s parts lookup to check which remote corresponds to that set. Samsung notes that remotes vary and says third-party replacements are also available. Verify compatibility against your exact model before purchasing; a generic remote is not guaranteed to work with every TV.
