First choose which Dalaran you want: the Legion-era city in the Broken Isles or the older city in Northrend. To reach Broken Isles Dalaran from Stormwind or Orgrimmar, enter your capital’s portal room, take the portal to Azsuna, then fly east to the floating city.
Choose the Dalaran you mean
World of Warcraft has more than one Dalaran destination. The route through Azsuna leads to the Legion-era city in the Broken Isles. Northrend Dalaran is a different destination, so a portal labeled “Dalaran” may not take you to the city you intend. Check the destination before traveling. Warcraft Tavern’s Legion route guide and the Warcraft Wiki’s Dalaran reference distinguish the versions.
Find Broken Isles Dalaran from Stormwind or Orgrimmar
- Go to the portal room in Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Blizzard has confirmed that both capital cities have portal rooms, though its announcement does not establish which portals are currently available to every character. Blizzard’s 2017 panel recap confirms the rooms’ existence.
- Look for the portal to Azsuna and take it. The Azsuna portal is the route described by current travel guides, but portal availability may vary with game updates or character progression.
- Once in Azsuna, fly east toward the floating city of Dalaran. The route guides describe the city as visible from the arrival area; they do not establish a universal flight distance or exact coordinates.
Use a Dalaran Hearthstone if you have one
A Dalaran Hearthstone is an alternative way to return to Legion-era Dalaran if the character already has one. Not every character necessarily has this item, and the sources cited here do not establish current requirements for obtaining it. If you do not have one, use the Azsuna route instead.
What can change
Portal rooms and travel options can depend on updates and a character’s quest or progression state. Blizzard’s official material confirms portal rooms in the two capitals but does not guarantee a universal, current portal inventory. Its older 2011 travel guide discusses general portal and travel conditions, but it is not a current portal-room directory. If the Azsuna portal is not available to your character, check the active in-game options and progression requirements rather than assuming every character sees the same setup.
