For official weekly NFL injury, practice and game-status information, use NFL.com/injuries. For game-day inactive lists, use NFL.com/inactives. Check the second page close to kickoff and refresh if your game is not listed yet; on October 4, 2026, it displayed a message asking visitors to check back for that season’s reports.

Which official NFL page should you use?

Page What it shows When to check
NFL.com/injuries Weekly injury report information organized by game and club, including player, position, injury, practice status and game status. The NFL’s 2026 Week 4 report used this layout. During the week, when you want a player’s reported practice participation or formal game-status designation.
NFL.com/inactives Game-day inactive reports: players not designated active for that game. Close to kickoff. The page may not yet show the current game, so return and refresh.

These pages show different snapshots. A weekly designation is not the final game-day inactive decision. Use the inactive list to check who was not designated active for the game.

How to find a report for a particular game

  1. For the weekly report: Open NFL.com/injuries and find the relevant game and club. Review the player’s practice status and game status, along with the listed injury.
  2. For game-day inactives: Open NFL.com/inactives near kickoff. If the game or season’s reports are not shown, revisit the page and refresh later.
  3. Check the report’s timing: Confirm that you are looking at the game-day inactive list rather than relying only on a status filed earlier in the week.

When NFL injury reports and inactive lists are filed

Weekly game-status report

The NFL’s 2026–27 important-dates calendar says clubs must file a regular-season Game Status Report by 4 p.m. New York time, or as soon as possible after practice concludes. For a Sunday game, the deadline is Friday. The filing day changes for games played Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday, so check the schedule for the specific game rather than treating Friday as a universal deadline. See the NFL’s important dates calendar.

Game-day inactive list

NFL Football Operations says the club’s inactive list is included in the Game Day Administration Report delivered by team public-relations representatives at the 90-minute pre-kickoff officiating meeting. That describes the reporting procedure; it does not guarantee that the public webpage updates at that exact minute. For the published list, check NFL.com/inactives close to kickoff. See NFL Football Operations’ game-day administration overview.

What Questionable, Doubtful and Out mean

  • Questionable: It is uncertain whether the player will play. The NFL’s policy explanation says, “Questionable means it is uncertain as to whether the player will play in the game.”
  • Doubtful: The player is unlikely to participate.
  • Out: The player will not play.

These definitions come from the NFL’s explanation of its revised Game Status Report policy. A player considered certain to play may no longer appear in the Game Status Report, even if listed on a practice report earlier in the week. A blank game-status field is not a separate official “active” designation. Read the NFL’s policy explanation for the reporting context.

The NFL Competition Committee cited a historical figure of approximately 95 percent of players listed as Probable playing when it explained the category’s removal in 2016. That historical rationale is not a current probability and should not be used to predict whether a particular player will play.

Why some players on a team’s roster are inactive

Being on a team roster does not necessarily mean a player will be in that game’s active group. NFL Football Operations’ 2026 roster guidance allows a club to have 48 active game-day players if it carries at least eight offensive linemen, or 47 otherwise. Practice-squad elevations can raise the active/inactive list to 54 or 55. These are roster limits, not a substitute for checking a game’s actual inactive list. See the NFL’s 2026 roster guidance.

Quick checks before relying on a listing

  • Use the injury page for the weekly report and the inactives page for game-day status.
  • Check the report for the correct game and club; do not assume the latest weekly designation settles the inactive decision.
  • If the current game is missing from the inactives page, check again close to kickoff. The page may not have populated yet.
  • Do not read a blank game-status field as an official active designation.
