Pokémon’s specific counterfeit tests apply to trading cards and packs, not plush, clothing, mugs, or decorations.
Where to buy official Pokémon products
Pokémon Support identifies Pokémon Center as a direct online purchasing route in the United States and Canada, and recommends its Retail Locator for finding retail locations that sell official Pokémon products. Pokémon also has regional storefronts, including US, Canadian, and UK web shops. Use the storefront for your region, since product range and availability can differ.
Pokémon’s official announcement, “Light Up Your Halloween with the Pokémon Center”, dated August 19, 2026, describes seasonal items such as Cubone, Espeon, Umbreon, and Mimikyu yard statues; Snorlax and Umbreon ceramic mugs; a Mimikyu Light-Up Figure; a Pumpkin Umbreon Ceramic Tea Light Holder; a Ditto Ceramic Candy Bowl; and seasonal clothing. Pokémon’s Merchandise page also featured a Halloween tea-party plush collection on September 4, 2026. These are examples from official seasonal coverage, not a guarantee that every item is currently available in every region. Check your regional Pokémon Center for current stock.
How to assess a third-party Halloween listing
There is no single visual clue that proves a plush, mug, shirt, or decoration is genuine. Use several checks together, and remember that copied official photos can make a questionable listing look convincing.

- Check who is selling it. Confirm the seller identity and whether the purchase is through an official Pokémon Center or a retailer you recognize as authorized. A marketplace search result or official-looking photo does not establish that a particular seller or listing is genuine.
- Compare the exact product. Look for the same design, labels, packaging, and product identifiers in official Pokémon product images or descriptions. Pokémon Support says familiarity with official packaging can help buyers recognize knockoffs, but image comparison is not conclusive because images can be copied and fakes can look convincing.
- Compare the price carefully. A price far below an official or suggested retail reference is a reason to pause. Pokémon calls a dramatically underpriced TCG pack a near-certain warning sign; for non-card merchandise, a low price is only a warning signal, not proof of counterfeiting.
- Read the condition and buyer protections. Check whether the item is new or used, what the listing says about condition, and whether clear return and dispute options are available. These are general buying precautions, not a Pokémon authentication test.
- Consider release and region. Seasonal items may have limited availability, and older collectibles or region-specific packaging may not match a current listing exactly. An apparent difference deserves investigation, but does not by itself establish that an item is fake.
When an expensive or collectible item still seems uncertain, ask a reputable specialist or choose an official retail route rather than relying on photos alone.
How can I tell if Pokémon cards are fake?
Pokémon Support’s counterfeit guidance is specifically about Trading Card Game cards and packs. It suggests comparing cards and packaging with official product images, and says a questionable card can sometimes be checked by holding it up to a bright light. That check is not a guaranteed authentication method, and the guidance notes that fake booster packs can be difficult to discern.

Pokémon Support also warns that a pack priced dramatically below suggested retail is a near-certain warning sign of counterfeit merchandise. The statement concerns TCG packs; do not treat a low price as proof that a plush, mug, or other Halloween item is fake. If you are unsure about a card, Pokémon recommends asking a local shop specializing in trading cards to evaluate it. No single check reliably authenticates every card or sealed pack.

- Route and seller: Is the seller an official source or a retailer you can identify and trust?
- Product match: Do the design, labels, packaging, and identifiers match official references for that item?
- Price: How does it compare with the official or suggested retail reference, if one is available?
- Condition and recourse: Is the condition clear, and can you return the item or raise a dispute?
- Region and release: Does the listing make sense for the item’s seasonal release and market?
These factors help you judge risk; none alone confirms authenticity. Pokémon’s published counterfeit advice does not provide a universal authentication process for non-card merchandise.
