To identify who voiced a video-game character, start with the end credits for the exact game release and language, then check official publisher or developer materials. Use databases such as MobyGames and IMDb to find leads and cross-check them; treat a character attribution as confirmed only when a reliable source connects that performer to that role.
Start with the exact game version and language
Before searching, write down the game’s full title, edition or release, platform or version when relevant, and the language or dub you mean. A remaster, regional release, or localized version may credit a different cast. IMDb also notes that video-game credits can be localized, so a cast list for one version may not apply to another: IMDb’s Cast and Voice Credits guidance.
Check the game’s credits and official materials
Read the end credits
Look for a section labeled Cast, Voice Cast, Voice Talent, Voice Actors, or similar in the game’s end credits. Preserve the names and role wording exactly as shown. If the credits list performers but do not connect them to characters, that confirms who was credited in the cast, not which character each person played.
Look for official credits outside the game
Check the publisher’s or developer’s official website, support pages, press materials, game manual, and packaging. Some games publish online credits rather than listing every performer in-game. Choose a source that matches the release and language you are investigating. MobyGames describes credits as evidence drawn from the game’s in-game credits, accompanying manual, developer website, or another official source associated with the game: MobyGames Standards.

Capture evidence for the attribution
Save a screenshot of the relevant credits screen or a link to a credits video, and note the timestamp plus the game release and language if known. Keep the exact performer and role wording with the evidence. MobyGames encourages submitters to provide captured credits or scanned manual pages so entries can be checked, but this is database contribution guidance—not a guarantee that every game has a complete public cast list: MobyGames Standards.
Use databases as discovery and cross-check tools
MobyGames
Search by game or performer to find credit entries and possible sources. Use the listing to locate evidence, then compare it with official materials for the same release and language. A database entry alone is weaker than a relevant official credit source, especially if it does not show how the performer was connected to the game.

IMDb
IMDb can help surface cast entries, but its rules limit which voice credits it accepts. Its guidance says game voice credits must appear in the cast section of the end titles, with additional voice credits permitted within or immediately after the main cast list for video games. It also excludes uncredited voice credits because they are difficult to verify: IMDb’s Cast and Voice Credits guidance. That is IMDb’s database policy, not a universal definition of who performed work on a game.
Decide what the evidence actually proves
A game credit or official publisher/developer cast list is strong evidence that a person was credited for the stated game release. A character attribution is strongest when that same source explicitly pairs the performer with the character. If credits name performers without roles, do not infer the character from voice resemblance, a fan wiki, or a database entry alone; look for a direct mapping or label the role unconfirmed.

Also distinguish voice acting from ADR, looping, background voices, dubbing, performance capture, and other production work. A person credited in crew or performance-capture sections should not automatically be described as the character’s voice actor. IMDb categorizes some of these roles separately in its cast and voice-credit guidance.
Resolve missing or conflicting listings
- A name is missing from IMDb: This does not prove the performer was uninvolved. IMDb excludes uncredited voice claims, and localized versions can have different credits. Check the relevant game credits and language instead. IMDb guidance.
- A title is missing from SAG-AFTRA’s signatory search: That search cannot settle whether a performer worked on the game. SAG-AFTRA states that the database excludes interactive-media projects because game titles are confidential: SAG-AFTRA Signatory Search.
- Two sources disagree: Compare the exact release and language, then inspect the underlying credit material. Prefer an official source for that release over an independently edited database; retain the captures or links that show what the credits actually say. Compare listings on the details that matter
