To find a Galaxy setting, open Settings and search for the task or control you want. For features tied to a particular One UI release, first check your software version, then use the phone’s built-in help to see what changed. Menus and feature availability vary by model, software version, and region, so confirm each option on your own device.
Start with Settings search
Settings search is the quickest way to locate a control when you know what you want to change but not where Samsung placed it. Samsung’s One UI 8 guide gives “Wi-Fi” and “wallpaper” as example search terms.
- Open Settings.
- Tap the search control and enter a setting name or the task you have in mind, such as “Wi-Fi,” “wallpaper,” or “notifications.”
- Open a relevant result and inspect nearby options for related controls.
Searching by outcome can help when you do not know Samsung’s name for a feature. Try terms such as “screen search,” “notification privacy,” or “quick access,” then check that the result applies to your model and One UI version.
Check your One UI version and what changed
Feature instructions can depend on the software generation installed. Samsung’s One UI 7 support guide describes this route to the version information:

- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Tap Software information and check the One UI version.
To check for an update, Samsung lists Settings > Software update or System updates > Download and install; the label depends on the device. Update delivery can vary by model and carrier, including between unlocked and carrier-locked phones, so the menu does not guarantee an update is available.
Your phone’s own help can point to features introduced with its installed release. In Settings, look for a section labeled User manual, Tips and user manual, Help, Tips and user guide, or Tips and help. Labels vary. Open the What’s new topic if it is available to review changes associated with the update.

Explore features that work from the screen
Some useful tools are launched from on-screen content rather than from a Settings toggle. Samsung’s One UI 8 guide documents Circle to Search and AI Select; availability and exact entry points should be checked on your phone.

On supported devices, touch and hold the Home icon, then circle or tap an object on screen to look it up. The entry point can depend on the phone’s navigation setup, and the feature is not universal across Galaxy models.

AI Select
On supported software, open the Edge panel and choose AI Select. Draw around part of the screen or tap an object; the available actions depend on what you selected.
Review notification behavior and lock-screen privacy
Samsung’s One UI 8 documentation describes notification pop-up style options and per-app controls for whether notification content appears on the lock screen. Search Settings for notifications if you cannot find the controls in the menus.

Before allowing message content to show while the phone is locked, consider who can see the display nearby. A notification preview may expose private information even when the device itself is locked.

Use Good Lock for optional customization
Good Lock is an additional Samsung customization app, not a setting guaranteed to be installed on every Galaxy phone. Samsung’s Good Lock support guide, dated November 25, 2025, describes installing it through Galaxy Store:

- Open Galaxy Store.
- Search for Good Lock and install it if it is available for your device.
- Open Good Lock and browse its available modules; use the app to download or update additional applications.
Samsung lists modules for different parts of the interface. Availability varies by device and software version.

Check newer Home Finder instructions carefully
Home Finder is a version-specific example, not a general Galaxy feature. Samsung’s Finder guidance applies to Galaxy phones running One UI 8.5 or higher. On that software, open Home screen settings and enable Show Finder on Home screen. Samsung says the Finder entry point is disabled by default. For One UI 9 or higher, the page adds a Show search on Home screen step.
If those labels are absent, do not assume the feature is broken: the instructions are scoped to newer software, and the option may not be supported on your phone.
