Adjust the display first
Lower brightness and use 60 Hz if available
Set brightness to a comfortable level rather than leaving it higher than necessary. Xiaomi identifies high brightness as a cause of faster battery drain. If your software build includes a refresh-rate control, try 60 Hz on days when runtime matters more than scrolling smoothness. Turn off Sunlight mode when you do not need it

Find what is actually draining the battery
- Open Settings and go to Battery. Menu names and locations can vary by software version.

- Look for an app with unusually high use, especially if it is active in the background without a function you need. Change that app’s background activity or usage only if doing so will not interrupt something important, such as notifications or syncing. You can also try disabling always-on display or haptic feedback if those features are enabled and not important to you; Xiaomi lists both among possible contributors to higher power consumption. Choose a battery mode for the day you have
Battery saver is a reasonable option when you need the phone to last longer and can accept limits on background activity. Ultra battery saver is a more restrictive reserve mode for times when preserving remaining charge matters more than normal access to features. If battery drain worsened after an update
A temporary increase after a system update does not automatically mean the battery is failing. Xiaomi says post-update optimization, app recompilation, and re-indexing can increase power use, and that it typically settles after several charge cycles. If abnormal drain continues after several charge cycles, review the Battery chart and the settings above. If it persists under ordinary use, contact Xiaomi after-sales support for inspection. Xiaomi’s battery-consumption troubleshooting guidance.
Battery capacity figures vary by region
Xiaomi’s published capacity figures for the Redmi Note 17 are inconsistent: its Global product page and Bangladesh specifications state 7,700 mAh typical, while the UK FAQ states 8,000 mAh. Charging accessories do not extend runtime on the same charge
A charger, cable, or power bank can replenish the phone, but that is different from reducing the power it uses between charges. Xiaomi says charging power varies with the charger and cable, battery level, and temperature; heavy use while charging can lower charging power and produce extra heat. What the “Redmi Note 17 4G” name means
