For longer everyday battery life without making the Redmi 17 5G feel sluggish, start with Balanced battery mode, keep refresh rate on Default if available, and lower brightness to a comfortable level. Turn on Battery saver only when you need extra runtime and can accept reduced background activity.
Start with settings that preserve normal responsiveness
Xiaomi recommends Balanced mode for normal use; its support guidance says Performance mode increases performance but consumes more power. For routine use, Balanced is the sensible starting point rather than a permanent battery-saving restriction. See Xiaomi’s Battery saver guidance.
- Open the phone’s battery settings and choose Balanced if that option is present. Menu names and paths can differ by software version and region.
- Open Display settings and select Default for refresh rate if available. Xiaomi says this setting adjusts dynamically according to usage scenarios to balance performance and power.
- Lower screen brightness to a comfortable level using the display brightness control or Control center.
The exact labels and available choices may vary on your device. Xiaomi’s regional specifications also caution that configurations and connectivity can differ by region, so do not assume every Redmi 17 5G has identical menus.
What each battery setting changes

When to use Battery saver
Enable Battery saver when you need to stretch the remaining charge and can tolerate delayed or paused syncing and less background activity. It is not the best default if you rely on apps to sync continuously or need their background updates. Xiaomi says the mode also minimizes system animations, so interface effects may feel less elaborate while it is active.

To enable it, open the phone’s battery settings and choose Battery saver if available. Xiaomi’s support article describes the mode, but menu labels can vary across devices and software versions.
What the Redmi 17 battery specifications do—and do not—tell you
Xiaomi’s Greece product page lists a 7,500 mAh typical-capacity battery and 45 W turbo charging for the REDMI 17. The capacity is the manufacturer’s stated typical specification, not a guarantee of a particular number of hours between charges. Charging wattage describes how quickly a compatible setup can replenish the phone; it does not increase runtime per charge. The same regional page lists adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz, but specifications and connectivity can differ by region. See the Xiaomi REDMI 17 product page.

Xiaomi’s Malaysian FAQ says the refresh rate can be adjusted in display settings and identifies the product as REDMI 17; its naming and available settings may not match every regional REDMI 17 5G variant. See the REDMI 17 FAQ.

If the battery still drains unusually quickly
- Check battery usage by app in the phone’s settings if that menu is present, and look for an app using an unusually large share of power compared with your normal use.
- If one app stands out, review its own background or sync settings before changing system-wide behavior.
- If no app explains the drain, compare usage under ordinary conditions after returning to Balanced mode and Default refresh behavior. Xiaomi’s cited guidance does not establish a model-specific runtime figure for these settings, so a precise number of extra hours cannot be promised.
